Every year Channel Nine shows a 2odd hour special called the Wild Winter Weekend or something like that, with a tyre tube competition, and a ski jump with people trying to drive all sorts of contraptions into an icy pool. Would anyone know the specific name of this event and does anyone know if there is any video footage of it online, in particular the tyre tube race? My brother and I have always wanted to take part in this event, call it out biggest goal in life :

Sombody from Cairns wanting to jump into ice water ????
Winter Weekend Splash for Cash http://www.perisherblue.com.au/winte...p?release_id=7 The final event of the Wild Winter Weekend is the Coca-Cola Jump for Cash. Like the skiers 'Dash', the 'Jump' has been entertaining audiences for 16 years as people in fancy dress, riding on various contraptions, jumping on skis, leaping on boards, riding in boats have jumped or attempted to jump into the pool at Perisher Blue. Competitors have braved the icy waters for a chance at the cash. Prize money is awarded for the longest distance, best contraptions, for height and for the best splash. Spectators who are early can get a seat in one of two grandstands located alongside the pool otherwise there are plenty of good viewing areas around the pool site in the area below the Sundeck Hotel from 12.30pm. All the action will be recorded for television and broadcast as a 'special' on Channel 9's Wide World of Sports and later on Fox Sports. For further information please contact Perisher Blue Guest Services on phone: 02 6459 4421 or check out the Event page on www.perisherblue.com.au |
