Thumbs down I'm Furious re: Vic Roads

Over two weeks ago I inquired about changing my rego plates. Now when I asked I was told that it wouls take a week and a half. I thought beauty as it was 2 and a half weeks before AFD and I really wanted them on by AFD.

So I naturally orded and paid for them then.

In the mean time I hat to by a more efficiant car to drive so I bought a cheap run around and put the plates on this car. This was days before I expected the new ones..

Guess what never turned up? That's right 2.5 weeks later, no plates no AFD. :(

I called them of course, they could not help

I'm still waiting for a letter from Vic Roads that I filled the form out for in October last year. Meanwhile the RACV are still taking money out of my bank account for a car I haven't owned for 3 years. I wonder when they'll notice I changed banks?

They're a bunch of tossers :tosser1:, don't ever rely on something they promise to do. :

I don't understand.

It's the same car, she's waiting for the letter from Vic Roads to confirm to RACV that the car is no longer registered under her name.

They couldn't help? Are they kidding or what? Someone's responsible for this delay and it's not you. There has to be someone that knows where these plates are and why they aren't already in your hands! Mine took 1½ weeks which is about how long they should take.

I'd be busting their balls everyday!!

the thing is though, the next time you go to use that account you will find yourself with a pretty big debt that you have to repay for over drawn account fees and the likes.
even if you never go back to them you may find a letter in your mail one day from a debt collection agency.
i remember Telstra did this a year or so ago. they sold ALL of their unpaid bills from the last 10 years to a debt collection agency.

Surely you can call someone and harass them? Papaer and email communication is always useless with them.

I'd be on their backs every day about it. Try to **** them off, as much as they have done to you... you may not get your plates any sooner, but atleast it'll show them that they cant just dick people (customers!) around without some sort of ramifications (just like any other buisness).

I purchased a few sets of plates last month and they only took about ten days. Vicroads is an absolute veggie patch at the best of times.
Just keep hounding them until the get sick of you.

Cheers, Danny

Problem is they are to be sent to my house so, they could be there now. I won't know until I get home. Then when I get home they will be closed. :(

Umm, you best make sure they stop. It will not effect RACV only you and your credit history. I'd follow that up ASAP!

I got off my P's last november, 2 weeks before my P's ran out I paid for my new licence to be sent out.

I had to call them again last week cos it hadnt arrived yet. It came in a few days after that.
They said they get the orders at Vicroads and send the orders away and sometimes the other people screw up or the order gets lost in transport or some crap like that.

They sold it to Receivables Management LTD. You'd be surprised of all of the things that go on in that industry! :

Back to the topic, you should really give VicRoads a real bashing for this. Someone is eventually responsible for this stuff up.

I want custom plates but CBF waiting for them, I'd want them done there & then.

I ordered some personalised plates yesterday and was told 10 to 12 working days wait on them. They also advised the transfer of ownership paperwork for the car will take a couple of weeks to work it's way through the system. I'll have to ring in and check to see if it's in my name when the plates arrive, they don't notify you.

It could be done a lot better.....

As expected they turned up the day after AFD. So now they ae still in the box. Don't really need them now as the LTD is coming off the road for a short time.
