Hi, I just joined here. I own a 1985 AR II TX5 Ghia 5-speed (2.0 Litre carby). Since buying it almost a year and ˝ ago, I’ve spent bloody over $3 grand on the thing – just fixing problems! All I can say is that every single thing I’ve had fixed has STAYED fixed!
Well anyway, now I need new shocks for it – it has the stock push-button adjustable ones currently, which I LOVE!! But lately they’ve got so soft it’s unbelievable, if I go over any bumps higher than a millimeter you can feel it. I went and asked Ford if I can still get them and they said they can’t get them any more: “It says they’re obsolete mate.” But I went to Mazda late last year and they said they can get them for me, at a cost of $1,600 for all four! Is it worth it? And what would I be looking at for springs? Also, any idea where I could get NEW miscellaneous parts for the car – like a new stock steering wheel, headlights/tail-lights etc.? Ford said they can’t get any of that stuff any more and I wouldn’t think these things would be available through Mazda, as they’re Telstar-only parts (diff to 626). Thanks. |

ok I dont know where you are from
so can only answer this question generally Has anyone offered to recondition/repair your old shocks ? springs can be reconditioned easily they are retempered and shaped back to specifications and painted up nice other than that you may have to settle for after market suspension that is available for the time being If you are after ford only parts and cant get any from a wrecker you will have to search for the same model second hand car unregistered to purchase for spare parts this would save you a lot and what you dont need you can sell privately hope thats a start :yeees:
