Default new el to the family.

my girl friend has just purchased an el fairmont ghia "tickford tweeked" its got 113,000 on the clock and she picked it up for 9990 with a trade in ,just curious as to what to look out for in reguards to problems with the car?thanks in advance for replies, cheers Duane.

Keep on top of gearbox fluid and filter changes (VERY IMPORTANT), you probably already know that but anyway. Also don't be surprised if it does a head gasket, it will most likely be coolant out the exhaust side of the head.

Nice car though, good low k's. I bought one for my wife not too long ago for $10750 no trade in (private sale). It had 117,000 on the clock, beutifull car, great condition.

Nice car

As for problems just the regular E-series stuff, nothing specific to Fairmont or Ghia

Headgasket- Keep the cooling system serviced
Brake Disc Warpage (Not really a big problem)
BTR 4sp Auto- Keep it serviced well, these can go anytime really
Aircon Vacuum control and the climate control
Yellow Headlights and Brake Light switches

This may sound like a long list, but E-series are pretty reliable cars and if serviced well they can handle the best Australian roads can throw at it for a long time and parts are plentiful and cheap
