Default Capa Eseries Edit

I noticed that CAPA are advertising the Tuner as EF-EL coming soon. Where does that leave EA-ED owners? Anyone know? I dont really have a clue what EEC IV V, VVVVXXXX these models have, so i dont know if the likes of ED's would be ok, if they had the same as an EF etc..

It depends if they bother "cracking" the ECUs from those cars. People have already had some success - look at what pete (xr9ute) can do with certain EB-ED V8 EEC IV's.

Same hardware to edit both types - just need the definitions for each ECU catch code. The hardware has been around for DONKEYS years, CAPA/whoever have probably just been focusing on

a) cracking the various ECU catch codes
b) figuring out how to stop people using it on different cars amoungst themselves

Im sure it will be worth the wait. Im sure there wont be massive gains at all, but it will be nice to have the ability to change certain things that were previously unable , or rather expensive to alter.

Excellent with an EL ECU in place at the moment, it's looking promising!

I heard through a mates girlfriends sisters auntys friends sons mates wifes work associate who knows someone that it's coming really soon...

These threads have been popping up since the early days of ff.com. "It's coming, sooner than you think! We just need/we're just finalising......." :P

Bingo, its all about the $$. And when you think about it fair enough. If you were CAPA/SCT would you invest 100's of man hours in research only to give away your hard earned information? I think not.

Still, if the edit was more like the kalmaker/Memcal or even Tweecer programme where the tuning programme was included with the hardware purchase It would be far more apealing to people who wish to have a tinker/tune themselves. Particulary as people do NOT apprecaite having to return to a specified tuner to get a new map loaded or tuning undertaken. Leaves jo blow with his WB02 out in the cold.

Well, this is what my original question is trying to ask.. I dont give a flying bat when its realeased. So hearing this "err they been saying its coming soon for ever, ff.com, blah blah" i dont care. Im asking this: Capa are advertising its for EF/EL's.. So what would be the reasons for this, or is it just bad wording, and like you are saying, EF/EL's are the same as EA-ED's? So if this is the case, it was bad wording.. Capa should have written EA-EL ?

Stevo... yeah i'd probably suggest the add was poorly worded. In one of my braver moments tho... i'd like to hash something out with dan and get his thoughts on the matter.

Agree that there really is very little between the EA-ED EEC and the EF-EL EEC... but EF-EL, in my opinion, is technically EEC-V... but technically not. A true EEC-V would have OBD2 compliant design as you've highlighted on previous occasions (and i agree with completely)...

But the EF-EL... as i understand... has the processor and memory capabilities of a "true" EEC-V... but FoMoCoAust opted to use only the same amount of memory as the EA-ED EEC-IV systems. So... by physical hardware, its an EEC-V... but by application its EEC-IV...

Further supported by those E series (EF 6 cylinder, EF 8 cylinder, EL 8 cylinder) which use the 104-pin harness which is EEC-V by specification...

And i thought joe still used a narrow band

Grechie - this basically WILL be a chip... just one which can directly alter more EEC tables (i.e. spark, fuelling, AIT enrichment etc) and fixed values (i.e. injector size, engine size etc) than you would ever have had to before. And one which can be reprogrammed.

It's not a flash - that's how they do AU and BA. It's a programmable chip - but one which can be tuned properly instead of "change that value and see how she runs"
