Yep it'll fit up fine. Don't expect any power gains with the standard HO manifold still in place though. (Says he with an AU t/b lol)

Oh, and have fun putting your TPS back on ;) Mine's held in with one screw, full backyard stylez

Will 'fit' straight on except for the TPS as Dave pointed out, I think you can either 'force it' to fit, or rewire it to fit.
Price? Anywhere from $50-$250, I wouldn't pay much over $150 for one tho.
Gains? Minimal at best if everything else is stock.

Go to Ford if you want.. LOL
Look through eBay and on the forums.
With exhaust and intake done you might notice a small difference... the MAF will now be a restriction, better to have a bigger maf and smaller t/b (I think rule of thumb is 5-7mm difference?)

That's the MAF. You'll have to find these things second hand as Ford pricing is beyond sanity.

As I said, your HO manifold will still pose as a restriction which will mean your upsized throttle body won't be giving you much - if any - more power.

But by all means, get the throttle body now whilst on the hunt for a manifold!

And I believe Free347 is hinting that he has a throttle body for sale.

Probably one off an AU or an aftermarket one. C&L or Mass Air spring to mind.
Up to $400.

Looking at the pics, could you get creative with the die grinder and open it up a bit?

Nope and they are matched to injectors.
ie eb has 19lb injectors you cant just slap an AU maf as they are set for 24's.

Nope, because the smaller maf has a smaller outer diameter (behind the joining plate/flange bit facing us that attaches to the airbox)

I've got EB electronics plugged into an AU body... or are you saying the sample tube is different in the AU body?

Factory MAF's are not calibrated to any injector size.

There is a "MAF Voltage vs Air Mass", aka MAF Transfer, function in the EEC that is calibrated to the combination of MAF electronics and MAF body.

Ghia5L, you have built a Frankenstien MAF. While it has reduced the physical restriction on the inlet side of the engine (which is good), it will no longer be measuring engine load very accurately at all points (which is not so good).

so how do you recalibrate the au maf to match 19lb injectors?
or are bigger injectors needed with a bigger maf

You dont do anything to the MAF.

You make sure the EEC has the correct MAF Trasnfer function for the MAF it is using, and that the injector slopes are set correctly for the injector size being used.

Huh....how do you figure that?

The answer is no, because they are a different MAF.

Nah, they are 70mm AU V8 (left) and 55mm E-Series V8 (right).

The i6 doesn't have a MAF, it has a MAP.

You can fit the AU V8 MAF and a Chiptorque chip, or even better twEECer if supported, to recalibrate the EEC for the bigger AU MAF.

The AU MAF has a different plug than the E-Series, so you can't just plug it in without modifying the loom.

Even if you could, the MAF Transfer function in the EEC would be all wrong for the signal sent from the new MAF. It would run, but most likely start getting real lean at high load values.

That's what I did. I unplugged the EB MAF sensor (black plug with hotwire), removed the EB MAF body, and replaced with AU MAF body. A very simple job.

LOL xr8ute, I love your term! I suppose it's correct, being a Frankenstein MAF :P

I don't really have an optimum tune, and she does ping a little under throttle at higher speeds. (I use unleaded). If you think my MAF is dodgy, you should see how I've shoehorned the EB TPS onto my AU throttle body! :hihi:
