Hey,
Have a strange problem with my headlights. Parkers and high beam work fine, but have trouble with the normal driving lights. Firstly they won't come on at all if the car isn't on for some reason. Once the car is on, it either takes a few switches (off/on) to get them to come on, otherwise, if I leave it set to on, they come on after 15-30 seconds. The globes are fine, and so is the switch I would say, as you hear the click from the bonnet (relay I take it), even if they don't turn on. A few times they have been a and don't want to come on. I find it strange how it sometimes just comes on after a little while, with no movement (so doubt that it is wiring or the like). Does this sound like a dodgey relay? I'll replace it anyway, very simple. BTW, is the relay behind the passenger side light? If so, I've been told that it is the second from the left, when facing the car. Is this correct? Cheers. These small niggling problems can be very annoying. |

Im not sure about the position of the relays for the headlights - i thought the ones behind the passenger headlight were for the thermofans?
OED666 and I had this same problem within weeks of each other, the fix was to rapidly remove and refit the headlight relays a few times to get a nice brightmetal contact between the relay and the connector. Your car is a later model of course, so it may have a different fault, but it doesnt cost anything to try |

I have a similar, yet different (no, not crap whisky) problem...
The EA i just bought - the headlights flash wildly after about 10-15 mins of driving. There's no indicator stick - yet another thing on the list of things that need fixing - so it's temporarily stuck on high beam, and it may only be a high beam issue. I figured probably a faulty relay, since they seem to work fine initially, and then once the bad connection in the relay heats up it starts to short? Oh, and it's not flicking back to low beam as it flashes, so i'm thinking it's not likely to be something to do with the broken stick... Anyone else thinking relay? orrrr... something else? |
