Default Manual Conversion - XG into EF

Gday guys, would an XG Falcon be a suitable donor car for a manual conversion to an EF. Would the manual computer be suitable for the EF?

Has the XG still got the older style EA-ED looking dash or is it updated to the EF style dash?

Thanks for any help.

The XG has an XF style dash with an ED style cluster.

I don't think the XG ecu would work on the EF, different number of pins on connector plugs and XG doesn't have coilpacks like EF. Gearbox would be ok though, but probably not pedal box.

I was wondering the same thing last night - what about into an ED?

I'm 99% sure the pedal box and gearbox mount will be different, along with the clutch cable as well.

I have an XG box in my EF

Just about everything e-series is interchangable except for computers. I used an EF series 2 computer, ED pedal box (required modification), EA bellhousing, EF auto crossmember, and EL XR8 driveshaft.

You could use the XG crossmember but you need to drill some extra holes to mount it to the chassis. Bellhousing should be OK as well. Dont know about pedal box but I doubt it. When you buy the pedal box you are going to use check it carefully around the clutch pedal for cracks as they tend to break there.

Thanks for that, think I will give it a miss... would like to find something that I can do a straight swap over of parts for.

A manual EF Wagon is coming up at auction next week which is looking promising. Could work out very cheap if I can swap the tranny's over and sell off the wagon as an auto to recoup costs.
