EB brakes

My 19 year reckons his breaks aren't the best. I had a look and the front pads are about half gone but lots of life yet. Topped up the break fluid as well.
I brought the EB up to 50 and hit the breaks. Ok it stoped Ok but there was not much 'feel' when I put my foot down. Thye felft like there was no fluid (which there was)
The car has done 260,000 km's.
So my question to the forum is: What should they feel like at this age?

It might pay to change the fluid. Brake fluid absorbs moisture and 'goes off' in a sense giving bad pedel feel. The other thing is you may have air in the brake lines if it was let to drop too far in the resivoir which will give spongy brakes.

I don't think the resivour dropped but dain and change sounds like a good idea.
Wonder if my 19 year old will pay for the new fluid ?

Change to a better fluid (drain and refill completely) of at least DOT4 or even DOT5/DOT5.1 and bleed the whole system.

IMO brake pads will make the biggest difference in brake feel and "bite" so maybe change the fronts at least to a proven brand like EBCs or Bendix Ultimates.
