Hi guys,
Well I just finished fitting a EBII 3.45 LSD from an XR to my ED. A couple of pics to get you all interested first ;) People say it's a direct bolt up from EBII to ED, which it is, but there's a couple of little things. The sway bar brackets, are different on the EB compared to the ED. EB has a clip type setup, where the top sway bar bracket clips in, and then you screw down the bottom one, compared with the ED that has a thread on one side, and a bolt on the other. Apart from that, the change went well, and the diff is very tight, and quiet. I also discovered that my old diff was a 3.45 single spinner, not 3.7. EDIT: Just remembered what the other little thing was. The upper control arms have 2 mounting point on the diff for an XR, because of the lower center of gravity for XR's, and for this reason, there is no bolt/thread on the mounting point like there is on a standard diff. So I had to buy 2 nuts to use, instead of the thread on the diff, because there wasn't one there. Cheers |

Good stuff mate.
What made you believe the previous was a 3.7 ratio? Did the car originally come with it or did you fit it at some stage? |

I think the previous owner told him it was a 3.7:1 CWP

The previous owner told me it was a 3.7:1 CWP, as walky said.. But on closer inspection, i have an EB/ED XR 3.45 tag on the back of the housing, and I tested the ratio while on the hoist, using some marks on the yoke and axles. It turned 3.4 - 3.5 times, hence 3.45:1.

What a pity about the old one eh.
Another giveaway (well, apart from slightly milder launch) would've been the rpm/100kph eh... 3.45+LSD is a great all-rounder ratio, especially for a manual. You've chosen well ;) Boo to the previous owner. : |

The previous owner wasn't to blame, it was sunshine diff's who ripped him off. The previous owner had nothing to gain by lying to me about it, because he was just descriving what I was buying from the car yard..
