Default Gauge setup's - E-series

Just trying to get some idea's on gauge setup's for my car. I wanna keep everything out of sight, well as out of sight as i can get.
Just trying to get some ideas. So post up your thoughts and pics.
I've got
- 1 Autometer 5" monster Tacho and shift light
- 1 Water temp gauge
- 1 Oil Pressure gauge
I'm trying to find where to mount them without them sticking out. At this stage i was thinking about mounting the gauges on top of the dash in the middle (so in line with where the headunit is, just on top), mounting the tacho on the Door so when the door is closed it's inline with the air vent under where the switch for the headlights is and mounting the shift light where the dash and A-pillar meet

mount the monstah tacho on your rear parcel shelf, then everyone behind you can see what rpm you are doing. Also rig it up soo 5500 rpm reads 11,000 rpm on the gauge, cause that would be cool.

I'd cut the clear plastic out in front of the original tacho and mount the monster tacho in there. There's a few spots to mount the other gauges in the centre part of the dash, either above or below the head unit.

Something to keep in mind, it's an instant Regency Park roadworthy if the Police defect you for gauges mounted on top of the dash. :(

i've got a 3 3/4 shift light tacho on the a pillar, its barely visible from a distance. also have water temp and oil pres. but only hooked up the lights atm. apparently oil pressure will work, but consider the dash one gone, but the water temp wont work unless u get some aftermarket thermos, coz they are run using the temp switch for the factory gauge. i've mounted those gauge just in front of the T-bar, under the ash tray.

I've heard that SA can't defect me cause my car and licence are still registered in Vic (anyone confirm that for me).
Was thinking about doing that with the plastic tho. I was out and about on Friday and saturday night, went past heaps of cops and all they did was look at me

Put the tacho on the passender side of the dash above the grove box where they now put airbags

i,ve installed tacho, lpg fuel guage, oil pressure & water temp guages (all spec thomas silver except the lpg guage) into my cluster (cut the holes into the original guage facias)and have retained the original speedo. It's certainly different.

the e series fords have one of the best dash layouts for tacho, oil pressure speedo etc, why make it look worse with these add on's
i say put the money towards fining the missing power from your 347 :

I'm not too sure about that. I had a car registered in Victoria and defected in Canberra. But in saying that I too leave my more radically modified cars registered elsewhere. Theory being the police will just think I'm an innocent tourist and leave me alone.

I've got the same problem as you. The only decent tacho I have in the shed is a 5 inch white face tacho and I don't want to mount it on the dash as the car is to be a sleeper. I'll probably see if I can mount it behind the steering wheel on the left or if there's no room I'll move it down a little and mount it off the side of the console. I'm only using it for the shift light and its bright enough for me to see out of the corner of my eye even when mounted down low.

Ditch the monster tacho and mount the other 2 on the A pillar or below the CD player in that small space or where the clock is at the top.

You have a tacho dash anyway yeah?

This is my setup. Don't strictly need the oil pressure gauge but I don't trust the Ford one. The advantage of having them on the pillar is that they are at eye level. I believe it outweighs the disadvantages.

Will all have to change when I put a cage in it anyways...

Thinking about the A-pillar for the two small gauges. With the tacho i'm thinking about cutting the plastic over the original cluster and sliding the tacho in there then placing the shift light somewhere else. I'm gonna get mock it up in the next few days, i have a few ideas now
