Time for a change

Been thinking about this for a while now and its hit me in the head.
Whilst i really love my ford im starting to get a bit bored of it and yes its powerful but the "wow" factor has worn off and instead of throwing more money at it to get that "wow" factor back im looking at purchasing an aprillia RS 250 and when im off my bike p's i might even sell both the ford and the aprilia and get a gsx-r-1000 or i may keep the ford and go for something smaller but still quick say an r-6 of course if the bike is purchased this would mean the mods will have to stop on the ef :(

Just go forced, George! I guess the EF isn't THAT different from the ED you had re. mods. I still reckon you should keep the EF though.

in my twenties the same thing happened to me.

I got my 350 honda four and took it to the illegal street drags one night and totally killed all the guys my VG pacer 2 door with four barrel, cam and extractors couldn't beat. Yes even the baby 350 had about a clear second in the qtr over all the XU1, GT falcons out there on the street in Dandenong in the 70's.

I was converted. from then on for speed thrills a bike was the only way to go. Give me a slow bike over a fast car any day. A fast bike well thats just even better. There is nothing like a bike for traffic light drags and 100kmh roll ons. once you get into the 1000cc mark you can muck about pulling wheelstands at 100k while the cars are trying to out accelaerate you and sit the front wheel down and pass them at will.

kepp the 'coon and get a bike. recentley sold my back and dude - I regret it. But there's no way I'm giving up da Fairmont - Coz riding bikes in the rain sucks ***! Especially at night!

A new bike is in the cards, but it'll be a year or two away. I'll just have to borrow someone elses.

Yeah, if i ever got a bike (not planning to) i'd still wanna have a car... just too hard if u wanna go somewhere with others, or bad weather etc.
bike + bad weather can be VERY dangerous :o

Bike and bad weather isnt dangerous! Its the same except you get wet!

I have a Cbr 250 and I find its fun to ride in traffic but I enjoy driving my car more on open roads, nighttime. Well my car is faster but racing a car with a bike is just not the same.

The RS250 will be a shitload faster than my cbr but its still got nothing on a big bike but is nearly just as expensive. Maybe get a cheaper bike to start with so you dont lose as much when you upgrade.

have you got your bike licence yet?

I cant wait to get off my bike restrictions and get myself a TLR1000

BTW I have friends that ride everywhere all year round in all weather, and they say with the ride gear it isnt a problem. Hard to carry a slab though.

I have a kmart special mountain bike, and its fast. Leaving the line is quicker, and i can do wheel stands.

well the rs 250 would be ideally what im after but they are pricey so what do u rekon about the rgv 250 how much quicker are they than the cbr?

A fair bit, I think they have around 60hp compared to about 45. I think the RGV is up there with the RS as its a lot smaller. A lot of people reckon the CBR 250's are plenty to learn on but they have no straight line speed.

I think the trouble is finding one is good condition, everyone says that a 2 stroke is harder to maintain and will always require rebuilds and stuff.
Not sure how true it is though. If your going to upgrade when the restrictions are gone then it only has to last 2 years at the most generally.

I'd hate to not a bike now that I have one.

Have you got your L's or anything yet?

Would you even be able to rev out first gear hard on the street with a 1000?

That would lose the fun factor I think, with my CBR 250 I struggle to stay under the limit, I can just imagine the trouble an extra 120 HP.

i think ill stick with the falcon
although considering my friend ran his stock gsx-r at calder a few weeks ago with a 10.3 pass i think bikes like that only blow 1 thing: highly modified cars that u would be hard pressed to find on the street

i dunno if bikes and cars should really be compared for dragging and whatnot though, it'd be kind of like pitting an F14 against a 747. obviously the boot of a car, or even the back seat, comes in handy for transporting goods though, but i can easily see how a bike could be more fun

If you drive your Ford primarily for fun then QUICK geta bike!

If you actually need to carry stuff, transport people, tow shit and the rest tehn stick with the falc.

Having said that, i know wat you mean about time for a change. Maybe i will have something different soon.
