Default What Is This...

There is this cylinder thing that is in front of my radiator and It has a connection on it like were you put air in your tyres and there are two pipes that lead to a box thing that has belt on just under the injection manifold...

Your A/C valves maybe? The "box thing" under your manifold is probably your A/C compressor.

It's not air, it's where you recharge the A/C gas (R134A).

to empty/refill the A/C system with A/C gas, it doesn't have air in it

Probably not. 18 odd years is a long time without a retrofit!

4 spd auto has longevity issues. The Three speed is almost unbreakable.

As long as they are serviced regularly (every 40,000kms) they'll last well over 250,000kms.
