Default HID kit for EL

Has any one here installed a HID kit in a EL??? If so how much? how hard was it? and did ya do it yaself? or get an auto electrician. So yeah Cheers ppl

Type of light's that warm up when you turn them on. They emit a blight clear blue light. Normally on expensive cars. A bloke with an EF Falcon has done the conversion, but I can't remember what his user name is! Sorry...

Its not based on car IE EL or NL.....Its based on fitting...Ie H3,H4


With most companies you can just specify.....Get 6000k it looks most white....Higher K means bluer light

While we're on the subject, can someone please explain the difference between HID and Xenon? I always thought the expensive luxury cars had Xenon headlights?

No Ash, 'Xenon' is the old marketing term but I understand they are using different gasses these days. HID is the correct term.

To avoid blinding oncoming traffic, this type of light needs to be housed in a projector - ideally a proper HID projector from a vehicle such as an Accord Euro Luxury with stock HIDs. I think the only E Series cars with stock projectors are NA (etc) Fairlane and ED onwards XR. Otherwise it's not a great idea.

I have an HID kit in the low beam of my Eunos 800 (stock projectors) and it does the job, but is some way short of a true retrofit. Also, it is not possible to flash these lights without doing serious damage.

no need to be a tool about it.....HID retrofits are cool.....

as mentioned i have done a hid install in my NC Fairlane, got plenty of info from HIDplanet, as well as just knowledge built up from my work (headlight repairer...)

as ils mentioned, dont fit a hid kit unless its in a projector....in which case you'd need to install an XR front

without doing this you'll
A, ruin your headlights and
B, they'll cause bad glate and hot spots of light on the road.....

I've got a kit in my EL - would never go back to standard globes.

About $250 from ebay (H1 setup)
Installation is easy:
- mount the starter control box
- drill hole in back of the headlight cover for wiring
- install globe
- wire up
- turn on and enjoy.
- You may want to lower the aim a bit so as not to annoy other drivers, you'll still get much better than before range.
