Help!!!

hey guys,

this one has me beat....

when ever the car is cold and i give it a little thump on the right pedal, the gearbox gets really sloppy. holding gears ect. and after i drive with these sloppy gear changes for about 5 mins, its just goes into limp mode. even if i let the car cool down, it will still start back up in limp mode. ( i hate thew program your computer switches you too in limp mode too. runs like a dog)

the only thing i can tell you that i notice before it happens is occasionally is after a small kick in the guts, (withing 5 mins of start up), and these sloppy changes. also, if you turn the car off (after the car has entered limp mode), then turn the key to ignition (2 clicks) when you hear the fuel pump start up, some times you hear it turn on then off, then on then off a couple of times. when it does this, it will always start agian in limp mode.

could this simply be a bad earth some where? could it be a fuel pump relay?

or could this mean the ol' btr 4speed is about to go BANG!

also, while the car is limp mode, it sound just like when you pull a lead off. lumpy, popping and missing something shocking. but once you start the car with limp mode gone, all the engine popping and missing stops. the geabox and motor do this at EXACTLY the same time.

any suggestions would be great guys. Cheers

take it to an auto elec, and get them to hook up a computer to it, will tell you what is wrong (should tell you) and would cost 10 bucks prolly
