you can pickup 2nd hand autos for cheaper than a manual conversion

The cheapest option would be a second-hand auto. If you want to go manual, to do it properly you'll need: T5, pedal box, new bearings/bushes, clutch, new clutch cable, flywheel (and machined), trans fluid and I highly recommend the correct ECU. If you plan on getting someone else to do it, add in the cost of a day or two labour - they're relatively easy to change yourself though. The problem with either option is you won't know how good the box is and how much life is left in it.

With a rebuild at least you get a warranty and know the parts are new. If you do consider that, I suggest a hi-stall to get it off the line better.

I've seen manual conversion kits for around $500. I've also seen some very shabby looking EAs with good condition T5s for sale for about $200. If I was going to use that method, I'd give it a test drive to see what condition the T5 is in first. I want to convert the EA to manual, as my auto is well on it's way to needing a rebuild, and I want a manual. My S5 solenoid is stuffed, and it seems to suffer from a flared upshift. You'd need some help with the conversion, and would be costly if done by a mechanic, but I'm sure some e-series members would be willing to help for a bit of beer.

I have a second hand 4 speed for sale, for $350. only done 200,000 kays, and always serviced.

Don't forget the hidden costs with a manual conversion.

Machine flywheel
New clutch
etc

It always works out roughly double what you expect.

But manual is also double the fun! Definitely worth it IMO.

Ok, you have a couple of options:

Buy the conversion, put in the second hand clutch, thurst bearing, cable, etc, and see how it goes. Then you get away with it for $850 including the diff, or whatever.

You can save $100 by not using a clutch pin from mal wood, and changing the pedal box yourself, from auto to manual pedal box.

Or, do it the right way/faster way:

- Clutch pin from mal wood , $100
- New 6 bolt clutch , $300-400
- New clutch cable (they stretch) , $70
- 6 bolt flywheel from an EBII > (Better clutch) , ~$100
- Machine flywheel , $40

The 6 bolt flywheel may come with the conversion, depending on if you get an EBII > conversion.

lol, dude, stop smoking the gunjah.

Mal wood pin is available from mal wood, they SEND it to you.

The T5 from eapsrints car will not be the full conversion.

I'd recommend getting a replacement auto, or your car sounds like it'll be off the road for a fair while before it's a manual.

I'll freight a BTR over to you, $350 + freight.
