I was lying in bed, listening to whatever was on Triple M at the time, and I remember the announcer saying the first plane had hit, and he would give more details as they came to hand.
I thought "ooh, bugger" thinking it was pilot or navagation error, then a while later he came back on air and said the second plane had hit, and it was now confirmed as a terrorist attack.

Think I told my Dad who was still up and reading the paper, then I went back to bed.

Woke up the next morning and that was all that was on TV.

I must not have been working full time then, as I'm sure I had the day off. I vaguely remember getting annoyed that there was no other news that day.

I was in year 11, oblivious to everything until school started.

Yr 11 and 12s started at 8:10 at my school, so I got up at 6:40, got to school at ~7:30 and prepared for an ordinary day.

Then somebody said, "The Twin Towers have been hit". I had no idea what that meant, since I always knew them as the World Trade Centre. So I ignored it. Anyway, simply hearing is nothing. I've heard many things.

So I got home and watched television and saw the planes repeatedly crash and explode, over and over. Boomskie.
I was in such a state of confusion and shock as well as sadness, I walked up to Safeway, bought 10 bucks of junk (I remember getting Cherry Ripe Ice-Creams) and ate it all in about 20 minutes.

The world has changed for the worse.

Bring back He-Man!

I was in my penultimate year of uni. I had finished watching a DVD and switched over to Ten news with Sandra Sully... ah shes a gorgeous looking girl. lol. Anyway, it was "news just in" and they showed the first tower hit. I knew instantly that it was a terrorist attack. No small plane could do damage like that and a pilot of a larger plane would not make a mistake like that. Anyway, I stayed up until about 1am watching the whole thing.

I worked out that I turned the tv off roughly 5 minutes before it happened... It was on GTS/BKN (Sa regional tv) at about 1130 & I went to bed just before then...

I was the only person at school who had no idea what was going on. I remember coming home the next evening and watching the news in disbelief...

I got out of bed and spotted it all happening as I walked past the TV into the bathroom for a shower. Spotted it again walking from the bathroom to my room, then from my room to the front door. Not once clicked as to what was going on, just had a look as I was walking past the TV. It was on a radio in every classroom all day (I never even realised most of the classrooms had a radio) and no one did any work. I've never been that affected by it, luckily. World events seem to affect me very little.

However, it was on September 11, 2004 that I first laid eyes on (and put a deposit on) the XB Fairmont that now sits in my garage. Oh, what a joyous day that was, even if it was pouring down with rain and I was in Cranbourne. Still a day I'll never forget. Mum reminded me of this today because she took our blue heeler to the vet to be put down on the same day, while Shane and I drove to Cranbourne. That sucked, I loved that dog.

And it was on September 11, 2005 (at about 2:30am, mind you) that myself, my mate Ben and his brother Daniel went out and smashed Ben's VP Commodore while looking for their sister who was out and about up to no good.

My life hasn't been affected at all by what happened in New York, but it's still a date to remember for reasons of my own.

I woke up and went to walk out the door for work. There was a not on the bench with my keys saying "2 planes flew into the world trade center. Twin towers down, hundreds dead.

I remember just thinking whats that there must just be a runway at the WTC, planes had landed, and terrorists went on a rampage.

Got to work, doing a frame in Torquay, and as soon as we turned the radio on and started hearing it i got chills down my spine.

I remember thinking thats this was the beginning of the end, and was ready to just pack up and go spend time with the ones i loved. Brought a lot of things into perspective.

So so so many details from that day i will never forget. Felt like nothing else mattered other than loved ones, as the rest could and had been taken away so easily. And i felt for the first time ever like freedom and safety were just 2 things that were something we'd all taken so much for granted, and could no longer.

I was in bed listening to the BBC when it came on live. Listened to it live and then had to get up in the morning to fly from Canberra to Sydney to deliver my weekly lecture at Syd Uni, on dealing with trauma. It made the lecture interesting using the experience we had just that morning very different. By 11 when the lecture started some students still knew nothing about the event.

Holly crap, 5 years already? Didn't even realise..

Mum woke me up early and showed me it on TV before I went to school. I remember that day they had some TV's on around the school showing the news of it all, then I came home and watched just about everything I could on it.. I don't know why, just always beeng fascinated by war etc.

I remember my uncle calling me later that day and saying something like 'You know, this could mean the start of WW3 don't you?'... Gee, great thing to say to a kid, haha.

I was sitting at work at the end of my nightshift .... staring at the TV watching the news as the first plane smashed into WTC.

"planes have crashed in to the twin towers and the pentagon etc, etc..."
"yeah yeah whatever, go away i need sleep"
Got up that morning and remember turning the t.v on and thinking
"this is that shiit movie he was on about *flick through channels*
" Damn it, on every channel"
at that point it clicked...

yes i remember that morning and day very clearly and will never forget it.

I woke up at about 5.30am on monday morning to go for a run before school. I couldnt grasp at the time what was going. Then it sunk in as it was on every channel. i woke mum and dad up to their shock it was real but took along time to realise what was happening.

Looking back doesnt matter who did the dammage, Terrorists, govt or gnomes. Alot of people died for nothing and still do

And we are still paying the price for it in many ways. Laws, freedoms, fuels, and everything else that is directly and indirectly affected.

Its hard not to be angry and upset but what can we do.

I was still in year 10 at school. I was asleep at the time of the terror attacks and I was woken up by my mother fifteen minutes early, I thought she'd better have a good excuse for this... Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the TV

I found out about it the next day - we didn't watch TV at the time much.

So it goes as follows..

Woke up, got dressed, drove to work (as a graphic designer for Adult websites), heard something on the radio about a bomb or something, walk into work, see the tv, spend the next day not doing any work....but just watching tv and videos on CNN.com

I was working on the exterior of Crown Towers on the Gold Coast - abseiling from floor 42 down to 12. I remember thinking that if tall buldings are a target this might not be the smartest place to be.
