Now I know some people will say that its not an e-series, and belongs on a datsun forum, but no-ine from here is likely to look at a datsun forum, and im refferring you to one anyway, so :
http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/...429&forum=1&19 Its an internally standard datsun A12 (+15psi) that makes 96rwkw. It kinda puts our 100rwkw standard to shame... Suck through carbied too. Now I want a cheap, economical runabout for when I get back to cairns, so that gives me some ideas about what I can do and keep the power of the falcon. Nowhere near the refinement or comfort, but thats not why you buy small cars. Cya Ben |

i thought it was un opened
quote......(direct from the other forum)Re-dynoed this Turbo setup today. It made 69-70kw atw the first time which I was quite happy with considering it was a std 1200 motor with a gasket kit and a set of rings. It runs a suck through CD Stromberg, very basic and simple. It had a std air filter with a sharp edge at the entry, which I didnt think would make that much difference on a turbo setup...??? I made a little half/donut-ram tube for the air filter, retuned the mixtures (had the carbie apart) and ended with 80kws, pretty happy with that!! I put a couple more degrees of timing in and it lost huge HP, 58kw I went back to where I was, then took a little more out, BINGO 84kws!! Took a little more out, 90kws!! Took a little more out, 96kws!! I didnt want to take any more out, just incase it went better, as strange as it may sound. I had in the back of my mind that motors usually go there best before they go bang!! Plus it still has 30year old std pistons in it!?!? It wasnt pinging before, but obviously wasnt fully happy with where it was. Its seems very happy now UMMMMMMM that has been opened so how true is what he is saying jason

it has rings and bearings, and thats it. By unopened I really meant internally standard.
but yeah, the reason i posted it is that its awesome, an internally standard 1200 with as much grunt as our 4L... I wonder what would happen if he had EFI and an intercooler. He might have cracked 120kw. Which is just bull$#!t for a mild 1200... |

yeah thats a good readout i would call that unopened also as all he has done is a set of rings thats only gonna make it pretty much a new 1200cc it doesnt have forgies or head work or anything. and u say it has the same power but it would smoke ours aswell because of the weight of it. i have been to datsun forums b4 so not all of us hate them lol. go the datsuns.
cheers josh.

you cant compare an internaly stock turbo engine with an internaly stock N/A engine. Letalone a 1.2L vs 4L

yeah, but when you calculate the 1200ccs plus 15psi, the best it could possibly be is the equivalent of a standard-ish 2.4 And a standard 2.4 making the same as our standard 4L makes the falcon seem pretty pointless (until you want to modify the 4L, or do somethig reliably).
Anyway, I'm over the engine comparo now, all I want is to drive a 700kg car with that much at the treads. cya Ben |

I owned a 1600 which had a stock bar ballenced/blueprinted L18 which i put a blower from a toyota (i have just had a brain fade an forgot the motor it came off!!) it was mostly a datsport suck through kit. When i got it tuned for the blower i got 90KW at the treads and that was using a locked off mechanical dizzy standard 180B manifold 32/34? webber (same as xf falcon) getting a max of 12lb boost oh and a backyard water injection setup. With a little tinkering 100KW would have been a sinch. I had to sell it to get my falcon but that thing was so much fun i miss it so much. There aint nothing wrong with a DATTO!!

BLSTIC: Get an ET Pulsar, one of my mates built up one that made 220kw @wheels, ran 11.5 or something. Only problem is exploding drivetrain components. :(

Its a turbo and I am sure spent just as much as making a 4L turbo motor unopened, so while its a pretty good power figure and would give most stock e-series a huge wake up call, all in all, its got a turbo big whoop.

yeah I suppose, but a turbo has no right to triple the power of an otherwise standard engine. I suppose after you replace both manifolds and put on a zero restriction exhaust on a n/a one it would be making the 50kw-ish mark.
Do you reckon if one of those had EFI, proper ignition control, and an intercooler it would crack the 120 mark? Ignoring the fact that most people say a 1200 cant make that, if you look at it, an intercooler, and proper fuel/spark control should give you an extra 20 percent or so. Thoughts? Ben |
