Gday all,
I've removed the 2 awkward bolts just under the front indicators, and removed the 2 screws under that on either side. now there's something in the middle of the bumper holding it and I can't locate what it is. Is it anything in the following photos? Looking frontward through wheelarch plastic guard...? Or the 5 black plastic screws at the front...? Any help would be great and please give as much detail as possible. Even photo's would help. I never thought changing headlights over could be such a b*st*rd :

There's 2 bolts behind the horns, you need to loosen off the horns to undo them. The black plastic screws need to come out as well, they *should* just unscrew (I know, they don't) or you can pop them out with 2 small flathead screwdrivers. There should be a steel panel underneath the bumper that goes back to the K-frame too, this needs to be unbolted.
[edit] - I just realised you have a Gli/Futura, what I described is for Fairmonts/Ghias etc. I haven't taken a GLi bar off for ages, but I remember them being fairly similar to remove, I think GLi's don't have the metal tray underneath, or it's easier to take off or something...

do you have to take the whole bumper off just to take out the headlights?!! my EB's headlights just come out by undoing the headlights and they just pop out! guess ef's are different!

yeah because the EF's design has sharp and pointed edges around the light, there's no room to move. And forcing the headlight would break the central area between the headlights.

it takes me 10 mins to get the bumper off, i do a lot of reciver dryer changes,
you have too, remover the plugs holding the inner mud guard off the front bumper, take out the screw near the front wheel's holding the bumper in alignment with the front quarter, a 13mm socket to remove the nut just under the indicator, with that done take out the screws underneath holding the plastic stone deflector and then the 4 15mm bols you can see clearly in your picture, no need to remove the horns just unplug it make sure it is not you air bag sensor, ur done. |
