Hi there I have just purchased a 87 tx3 with a b6 engine. The motor itself wont go past 5000 like its limited. As far as I know the motor is standard with the b6 ecu. Was told that (by previous owner) he replaced the air/flow meter & crank angle sensor, (both with second hand replacements) but still hasn't fixed the problem. The motor & turbo both run fine below 5000rpm. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I dont know where to start to fix the problem. Also the std intercooler is not there. Thanks

the tx3 has me confused I know of telstars tx5 turbo
yes you asked me about that try http://www.boostcruising.com/forums they talk turbos or any other web site related to turbo problems you may have an internal crack in the turbo / a faulty ecu/ check the blow off valve and the turbo boost adjustment is correct I no one else helps I suggest you go to a reliable turbo friendly diagnostic centre I thought the two sites might help http://www.mx6.com /forums http://z3.invisionfree.com/tx5/index.php

Dirty hands for Ford Lasers specificially I recommend.. www.fordlaser.com ;)
Can't help you with your problem, sounds really odd though. The only ECU limit we have are fuel limits and at 5kRPM on standard boost you're definately not hitting it.. So yeah go to www.fordlaser.com and ask there. (PS - You have a B6T engine if it's the 1.6L 16v DOHC Turbo)

Thanks for the website, I also have a workshop manual & in that its says that if ya over boost (11psi) it cuts fuel. On my boost gauge im pulling 8 psi. Also its not running the std inntercooler (dont know why) it has none at all. But yeah it hits 5k on the dash tacho and yeah it feels as tho its not getting enough fuel but i'm no mechanic. |
