What you have is a standard base model MK1. That's how they came out. The tacho must've been fitted onto the dash by a previous owner. No MK1 escort came with a tacho fitted to the top of the dash pad from factory. Indicator stalk is on the right for MK1, on the left for MK2. The "sporty" models ie Twincam, RS2000, ect had the 6 dial cluster.

I'd say this is about the jest of it, however some Escort "sports" were fitted with dash pad mounted tachos. :Reverend: Check out "Ford in Britain" by Martin Rawbone, its full of Ford archive shots.

Re: Dash mounted tacho, was it also the case for Aussie MK1 Escorts? Didn't know we also had the tacho on dash from factory.
