lol@ Litre of cola!

The problem with the Subaru retractable ones are they're vertical. I wouldn't mind fabricating some cup holders if they were horizontally-retractable with the cup-holder split ring opening up like a camera shutter, Bond styles. Then they could fit in below the head unit, and the bin in front of the trans fascia can act as a drip tray :P

AU consoles in Eseries look craptastic. Seen it done and meh...

EF Cupholders are craptastic aswell. Maccas drinks fly out of them with ease. As wayne said the only ones I could see working are slide out ones from the stereo surround like in your Subaru's and Mitsubishi Lancers

That's what I was thinking, either TR Magna, or VY/VZ Calais ones.

I'd love them but I see a problem shifting into 4th!

So I will have to go without.

Don't the Calais ones rotate out downwards, with the cup-holder ring popping out sideways?

The EF/EL cupholders do bugger all unless you have a normal can, just stick it between your legs or between the seat and console.

The owner of the only car i've seen in this situation (EA with EF dash I think) had only one comment: 'it might look sh** but at least I have cup holders"

Personally I think I'll stick with my custom one and just put up with the trouble shifting into 4th

When I put mine in I considered using a rubber band instead of that tape (see pic posted ages ago) because the plastic rim was broken already and it would have meant that I could hold bigger bottles, but who really wants to be able to drive with a longneck? (if only it was legal!).

The setup shown works for everything between red bull cans to maccas cups and 600ml bottles with no stress
