Drivers who swing out in the opposite direction to which they are going to turn.

Yesterday I got to an intersection, stopping to look both ways on a busy street before I cross, selfish idiot behind me wants to turn left so moves out to get a better view of traffic coming from the right, thus blocking my view of the left.

Narrow street, parked cars, two vehicles approaching each other, one has to let the other through. Ignorant morons who don't make the simple, cost-free gesture of a hand wave to acknowledge you letting them through.
In bolded: You do that when the green turn arrow disappears and the main green lights are still showing, but if the arrow changes to red you must stop at the stop line.

Those who don't acknowledge drivers who wait for them behind parked cars on narrow roads.

Either:
A - Self entitled
B - Socially inept

People who swing it wide to take a turn even going so slow they are almost going in reverse.

I also had some bloke take a left slip turn from half in the straight lane and braked down so hard in an 80km/h zone. Had tons of room on the left but you'd think he was driving a bloody truck

Someone stopped at an empty roundabout last night on the way home, there wasn't even anyone approaching on the opposite sides of the roundabout either - I find that fairly annoying.

Everything gives me the ****s these days, but I never get on the horn ever or do the angry flashy lights thing.

The person going through a green arrow reeeaaallllyyyy sslllooowwwlllyyy because as long as they get through everything is all good in the world.

The person in the left lane coming up to a red light slowing down to a crawl 50 meters behind the next car, while blocking access to the left turn lane cause you know, they are not turning and have to wait anyway.

That, and people who wait for an invitation once the light turns green. JUST GET ON WITH IT!

Intersection of Boundary road and Racecourse road in Kensington turning into Racecourse Road.

The green arrow comes on for about 10 seconds, the ****wit at the front of the line takes 5 seconds to react and crawls around, one car gets through before it goes, green, yellow, red

Those immediate streets around the very inner suburban suburbs of Melbourne are chaos.

Default Re: Driving - Your "pet hate" on the road

Drove from Canberra to Newcastle and back (Sat & Sun, so stayed the night). Also missed opposing thick traffic for the most past, as most others were going in the opposite direction in both my travels. Family get-together, first in 16 months, so all good really...

It brought back a memory. Last time, 7 years ago, I had a young driver (probably just off P's or maybe still on them, can't remember) sit on my tail for about 45 minutes up to Sydney. I speed up, he speeds up, I slow down to the speed limit, he slows down. Can't get rid of him, so I drop 10 below only to watch his passenger mother cover her face as they finally pass.

So, on the way up yesterday, had a 6cyl Torana (and I've once owned one, so nothing wrong with that) sit behind me for some time (let's say 10 minutes). I've got cruise control on. Now, I know my speedo reads 3k's under my real speed at 110 (because of the GPS reported speed from my old unit, and Cluster police mode in Falcons etc.) So I'm going 117, which is more like 114 and won't attract any particularly bad attention on double demerits day. He decides he's going to gun it because he can see me coming up to a slower car where I have overtaken in similar situations many times earlier. So he sits on my tail (ie. ars..) as we both pull out at the same time, so I press down on the pedal in my FG2 XR6T to give him some smoke.

He pulls into the next slower car, probably to search for an easier target. I've never seen anyone so embarrassed and slot back into the left lane like that.

The way back in the "tunnel" there's a P plater in the "overtaking lane" which I will call the right hand lane because that's not what he's doing while driving next to the guy in the left lane. It's an 80 zone, we're all going 80, except we're not. We're all going 78 because I know all our speedo's are out.

Hmmm, back in Canberra, never been happier.

My only rule is if you're going to pull out to overtake, at least commit to it. Be decisive, it is ultimately safer.

Yes, and get the hell on with it, saw someone overtake today where they must have been doing 5km/h faster than the car they were overtaking, it was like they spent an eternity on the other side of the road - on a single lane country highway.

Not only is it dangerous it also holds up a safe overtaking spot for anyone else behind who wants to get around the same slowpoke they're attempting the worlds slowest overtake on.

A common thread in the Russian dash camera videos is a tailgater pulling out to overtake, they put the boot in too abruptly and flick-flick-flick-crash. Either off the road or a head-on. :(

I don't like how others use them, no idea almost got cleaned up on Friday by someone not giving away to the right.

Traffic signal outages and they have no idea sit there frozen like stunned mullets.

Ah yes, I remember when the traffic lights stopped working on this intersection exiting the Tullamarine Freeway onto Boundary Road:

A lane spilling bike clipped and partly smashed my side mirror.

I get why they are allowed to split (in Tas at least) but that is not a cheap fix and as a dirt bike no licence plate. (happens here a lot)

Frustrating!!

Hi Guys,
I saw a funny thing on Sunday and it could have been very dangerous also.
I was driving to the Coles Supermarket in town and the car in front of me had its right hand indicator on.
Instead of turning right it went left but the right indicator was still on.

It got me thinking how many people may be driving on our roads that don't know there Left or Right which is very scary.

Friends had a Euro built car with the indicator stalk on the left side and the wiper stalk on the right which was the wifes car and the husband had a Japanese car which had the the stals on the opposite side.

If they drove each others car occasionally wipers would go on instead of indicators etc.

I get that when I’m tired, and jumping from the Peugeot to ute or Territory. It’s good motivation to kept the glass and wipers clean.

I had some **** the other day cruising who would switch between 60 to 80 in an 80 zone. The pattern was they would slowly get to 60 then plant it to 80, then drop it off again back to 60.

For perspective the nearest car was well over 100m ahead but because the right line is always chockers you can't do ****.

Once I got past the speed camera where all the right lane hogs turn off, I dropped the gears and gave them my feelings

Makes me smile, I've played that game too.

After 5 years of building my car, proud as punch on its maiden voyage, the first corner I came to was greeted by the sound of wipers dragging across a dry windscreen.

Even after I went to all the effort of tracking down an original operation decal
