Hi guy's. Not new to these forums but new to the AU family. I used to be a B-series member until I sold my XR6 and inherited a VE SSV ute which I recently sold and used the money to help buy another property.
Currently I'm driving a G6E courtesy of my employer, but have also just bought an '02 AU III XR8 ute. Manual, 97oook's, stock as a rock for $11k

Here are some pics from Carpoint as I don't have any real pictures of my own to share of it yet.

Plan to do a few things to it, but don't know what exactly yet..

Cheers, Wil.

Welcome Joe. Not sure about the wheel size, especially on a ute, but that could be a blessing. 15" tyres are much easier to get hold of, with a greater choice than 16". Any plans for it? You will have to get some photos up when you pick it up.

Cheers and welcome,
Stu

Stupid au's..........used to be a h#@*+n man, then i got given an au1 wagon futura, 7montgs rego 260+ on it but full service history, meh keep it i spose, make a better family car then the little bitsamissen we had at the time, then i needed a cheap work ute, egas au2 trayback 2300 4months reg manual, 900 in parts later and its roadworthy again, and the bite mark (from the au bug) is still healing, i now have a series1 wagon, a series2 tonner and a 99 nu partially dismantled in my shed, where my torana used to be. I am hoping to turn the ute into a ghia, extracters, pod hi flow 2.5 exhaust blos gasmixer and maybe a cam, allready got some great advice of ff.com.

Unhappy Re: Welcome New aufalcon.com Members - Say Hello Here

Hello fellow Ford owners..... I am new to the site and I look forward to talking with you. I have not long been a ford owner but I do love my car. I had always been a small car owner and I enjoy the fact that I now have space to move.

I do however had a problem the last three days and Im hoping maybe some one can help me. My car has been running smooth but when I went to start it the other day it turned over but chugged for maybe 45 seconds then stalled. I went to restart it but it would not go..... I bought a new coil pack and Still nothing...My son (app. mechinic) checked all the senses, plugs, leads, fuses and even tried to trace the wiring thinking maybe something had fallen off. My car still wont turn over and it sounds like the timing is off although the the belt is near new.... If someone has any idea what we should try or look at can you please help me. I dont know what else to do. I have a 2001 AU series 2 which also runs on gas. I had the car running on petrol when this problem occured

Howdy Ford People. This is a sneaky way to try and increase my post numbers so i can PM people while at the same time sharing my experience in upgrading my AU II ute. It's mainly relevant to Melbournites, so bear with me. Since buying the duel fuel cab chassis with 144k on the clock, i've been going through it doing upgrades.

I got my transmission serviced and a huge tranny cooler fitted at Transtyle in Hallam. The guy called Joe at the shop was super helpful.

Got a new ADRAD twin copper core radiator and new thermostat fitted at Eastern Radiator Service....also very helpful people and THOROUGH!

Had the 2011 Impco system serviced at AG Autogas in Lilydale. Extremely knowledgeable and very reasonable (considering i'm an ex-Subaru Forester owner

Had a new set of DBA T2 rotors and HPX pads all round delivered from Matt at Race Brakes Sydney.....super helpful guy and i'm having them fitted (with hew hubs/bearings all round) this Friday at Better Brakes in Bayswater. Well let you know how it goes.

Just waiting to purchase some 16" load rated alloys and better rubber, then a tow bar, toolboxes and i'm good to go.

I'm happy to keep sharing my experiences as i've learned a LOT from reading on this forum so far....so thanks to those regular posters!

Thanks! The forums seem to be filled up with wisdom. Hope to bring something useful too. I moved from Russia just 2 months ago and bought this Fairmont - my first car in Australia.

I've never had a 5L car before, in Russia I was driving a car like this: http://cars.auto.ru/cars/used/sale/20440646-b2dbec.html
And I'm really not disappointed, the car runs like a charm, it's comfortable and the engine sound drives me crazy =)

Wow! Yes, I can see how you would enjoy a 5L V8 Fairmont. Great work and I am sure that many will agree with me, you have chosen very well for your first Aussie car. Enjoy.

I hope to see you around the forums at times.

Hi,
My names Luke. I live in Adelaide with my partner and 3yo with another due very soon.
Just bought my first Ford, an AU series 2 sr.
And I love it.
The rear bar is cracked but I just got another off gum tree for $50 so I just have to fit it.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to get this done I would be greatful. Or even if another member could do it. I can pay cash/beer.

Cheers and welcome again,

Greetings folks.

Been lurking for a while in preparations for buying my “new” girl: a 2001 series 3 Fairmont Ghia VCT with a tick over 106000kms on the dial. Leather and woodgrain everywhere. Not planning on too many mods at this stage, she's primarily my work car (I have a round trip). Once this long range nonsense ends it'll be dropped on its bum and some wider wheels put on. Maybe a turbo, but with a missus and three kids that's very much a long term dream.

Welcome SantoAU.

That is definately low K's for a girl of that age. Sounds like a great pickup. Well done.

Be sure you stay in touch following us all in the AU threads and be sure to start a build thread with your tinkerings, if you go that way.

Cheers and welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome.

A couple of things I missed: the name is Bill, and here's the ride...

First point of call, lose the roofracks. Annoying whistle between 50-90km/h. There's a few scratches and little dings, but for an 11 year old it's in fine nick.

Nice! I've seen those wheels on AUs before. Were they a dealer special? The roof racks always look good on AUs, they look like extra spoilers and match the body shape.

Welcome, Bill. Enjoy your stay around here.

G'day all

is a little bit late but figured I should add my name to the list here.
Names Nathan, currently in melbournes northern suburbs, Baker by trade, worked as a panel beater and spray painter for a while too.

Proud owner of a '99 S1 V8 Fairlane in Liquid Silver

plans are modest compared to most, decent CAI, brake upgrades, small-ish audio system, just a nice daily cruiser.

Hi Ben here. Just sold my G6 as I hardly ever used it and I had an old Navara I used for running around. Navara is about to die so I picked up a AuII XR6 VCT 5sp ute (197k). Already fixed a few niggles thanks to this forum (and ff.com.au) It already had extractors, 2.5" system, new clutch, upgraded springs and new front shockies. Next project is to fix the heavy clutch with a new cable, the receipts from the previous owner looks like its had a new pedal box put in. New inlet manifold gasket, rip out the old alarm and fix the code 18 airbag warning that only happens when someone is in the passenger seat. I picked it up for under $5k as the paint is a little faded, absolute bargain.

Hi Nathan, nice Fairlane there. Looks to be in very good condition. Quite a big change from panel beater to baker. I enjoy baking, too, but only for fun.

Welcome, Ben. Congrats on finding a manual VCT ute! Glad we have been able to help.

***10/98AU Fairmont Ghia - DIFF CLUNK***
Hi all. I'm new to this forum but an old FORD lover.
Not sure where to start or where to find info but here goes:
I'm restoring a 10/98 au fairmont ghia for for my young bloke. It's our old family car and has been sitting around idle for a few months. The diff has a bad clunk in it when you accelerate. I purchased a diff from a 2000 model wreck and I am about to install it. I have disconnected everything from the original diff but have not dropped it out yet. Just worried that it might not be the diff, but it might be the shafts that go into the diff that are causing the clunk. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Hi,

We've just become owners of our first Ford...
Not our preferred car but anyways.

We are keen (prob more Me that the other half) to find out the true model of our 1998 AU Wagon.

We've been told it is a Tickford but we just arent too sure...

So I am hoping I can find the right place to ask question and the information I have is the correct info..

By the looks of it there are some very helpful people on here!!
