I noticed today the keys to my works office were missing from the top tray in my centre console in the car. Its a silly design, so if you dont know that things fall behind the seats. All i keep under that in the console is phone chargers and crap, not stuff i really ever use. Others borrow all the time but. So i assumed theyd fallen behind the seats. Got home and tore the car appart. No dice. Went inside and checked all the pockets in my work pants. ****. Tore appart my house, double ****. My boss would murder me if i lost a set of keys to his office. Contemplating whether to call it in or not, i decided to go outside and check the laundry. Stress level 11 was eleviated. Yep, washing machine. Did de clutter the car somewhat, i had 5 or 6 clean spare work shirts, 3 clean jumpers, and 11 more bog rolls then the 1 i usually carry. If youve ever worked on construction sites, you'd understand the value of 3 ply.

People doing swapsies with Bunnings products to “return” their failed item and get a new one FOC. Then some bunny ends up with the item that’s no good...
Just got burned on a pair of LED tubes. Suspect miswired and cooked. There’s a reason I prefer JRT for replacement lamps. |

I hate starting jobs that everything changes overnight. For 8 or 9 months i had been to multiple meetings about a job that kicked off on tuesday. 4 different project managers, each with no idea, but different opinions. Tuesday wemt for a meeting, all parties agreed. Its 38 meeting rooms that need power and data for av stuff and some booking system, so theres a bit involved. Today got 2 rooms finished, to the agreed everything. Sure enough, things changed. Atleast, well, the height of the tvs changed, thats the av guys issue, my services didnt need to move. But i had to re do the booking systems. Work has revoked the quote, its now do and charge. We quote to do things once to the spec, not twice due to people changing their minds. Its annoying because the deadline never changes.

Disable parking bays.
People are always complaining about people using disable parking bays without a permit, but here in Qld on the Sunny Coast my pet hate is people (usually old farts) using the disable bays when they don't need to due to plenty of other bays available. eg I drive into a beach parking area in quiet time (pre covid 19) and I am the only car in an area with 22 normal parks and 2 disable bays, and I park where I always do close to the road in a standard bay. In comes an old fart with his lady and goes straight into the disable bay even though there are 21 standard bays available, why ? because he can, it's his right, but of course should the standard bays fill up then that is one disabled bay no longer avalable But here is the cruncher, they get out of their car, walk past me across the crossing and 300 metres down the road to the restaurants. Same happens in the shopping centres. A lot of these people only get the permits after a stay in hospital for whatever reason and most walk better than me. How about the Chiropractor who had a heart job then attached the permit to his Harley Davidson so he could park close to the bakery when collecting his daily cream bun. I knew him. |

Turning up to work on an already extremely skeleton roster (most at home) to find multiple staff not there that were supposed to be.......
So been on phones all bloody day answering queries that have nothing to do with me nor have any idea what they're talking about!!!!! Only being half serious as I'm very grateful to still have a job compared to so many others, but jeez what a crap day......haha |

I suspect a huge reason for his sacking! I guess you'll find out soon enough what he did or didn't do. Hope it works out ok.... Problem with the office I've worked for over a decade is it's only 30 staff all experienced but have very defined roles with different qualifications - so unlike some places where can cover absence in ours it's a nightmare!!! But as previous I'm grateful to still being paid regardless what I'm asked to cover so I'm certainly not whinging etc. Last edited by MercuryT; 08-05-2020 at 06:02 PM. |

I had my flu shot the other day. They asked which arm I want it in and I basically said who cares.
Well got it in the right arm and had significant pain since which has cleared up today. So folks if they ask left or right, choose your non dominant arm I hate that Quote:
Add to those complaining they are busy as **** right now. Seriously read the room you dickheads. Not a shot at you more those massive moaners. I love being busy because they have less reason to walk me, my problem is getting priorities from the managers |

It's challenging times (but understandably) - I was taking calls on Surveying matters today (I'm Law) and all i could say is "I'm sorry but i can't help you on this query, but happy to take a msg for you and an appropriate officer will respond asap" - cue abuse, it's not good enough, where are your staff etc etc etc Agree completely on second point and no I don't take that as a shot at me at all. Certainly about not turning up also when others need a job asap. Yeah having priority list is important for sure - in fact I have a meeting with my boss every Monday for that exact reason. Especially in these times it's even more important to know what needs to be done first etc! Last edited by MercuryT; 08-05-2020 at 06:17 PM. |

If nothing else this 'rona has checked me on a lot of things. As I have said before I got the **** in the GFC and that sucked but I prefer the situation I am in now. A lot of luck of course but a lot of work in between those years. |

Busted my wrist again over the weekend. Having a shot nervouse system helps. There one bit that shouldnt move but does. Feels a bit different. The last time i did a number on it was 2 days into a ski trip when i was 15. No more backflip attempts. But didn't get it looked at then, not going to start now. This time, its stuffed, but less so then last time. Its only the little bone that connects to your wrist.

I went to mow the lawn but the pull start got jammed because it was frayed. So I took off the cover to get at it to try unjam it.
I undid the pin holding the wheel to the housing completely forgetting about the spring so now I have to ****en wind it back up and then replace the cord. If not off to the mower shop I go Man I have done a few dumb things today, brain might as well have been on weekend before I even got to work. Geeze I hate that! In my situation I actually made it worse by "turning it sideways the wrong way" (I know nothing mechanically)....rookie error apparently as it affected the engine. I bought a cheapie that runs perfectly (so much lighter for my back and warranty) so not end of the world! |

Do they even make 2 stroke these days? I remember firing up my rebuilt 2 stroke whipper snipper back in auto class and it was amazing. I also rebuilt a lawn mower and a car engine after that.
One thing that was common was that a lot of piston rings got flogged |

...My father using first one hand, then the other, instead of remembering toilet paper. Then smearing #2 on the sanitary ware, the floor and clothes, three flaming times in a day. So much for my “day of rest”...

Please don't take it the wrong way, but when it gets to that there needs to be a legal off button. Mates ol man had a thing for wiping with tea towels when he had lost it, the whole house was coated as well, thankfully he only lasted six months when put into a home, plus he turned quite violent. Take care mate it's not a easy road..Was very sad to watch my Dad go down a similar road, his biggest fear was ending up in a home with someone having to wipe his butt for him which is were he ended up, he basically starved himself to death in the end.

All good, no offence taken. Besides, he’s a Kiwi as well.
If I could legally nudge the bugger in a compassionate way that respected the things he once enjoyed, I probably would. Sadly not an option, and while I could also “overlook” something that was likely to finish him off quickly - I’m not that sociopathic. |

I recently bought a 100 buck cheapo WSnipper from Bunnings - Homelite branded. Runs perfectly and more than good enough for small needs and with warranty etc |

Stupidly enough, i got given a 25cc homelite $99 special that needed fuel lines. $28 for a fuel system kit and a spark plug and the thing hasnt skipped a beat in the 2 years ive had it. My old 30cc ryobi when it ran was a pain to start and was pretty heavy. The little homelite is fool proof to start and runs great. I lend it out to mates because i know it isn't tempremental to start.

Firstly financially not everyone can afford the best and secondly, sometimes the cheap options have benefits over more expensive equipment (especially weight which is why I much prefer my 200 cheapo than the over 1K Honda) |

Has been trouble free and I've been really impressed. My second hand Stihl was more powerful but worse in many other ways (yes weight and starting in particular.....i'm sure it's made much better etc but it was overkill for my needs) |

One day I given a ryobi which had the same problems (which is why I was given it), at least that had spare parts I could find online so I stupidly spent money on it fixing it. It never ran good - could have been my repairs, or could have been at it's best it wasn't even as good as the homelite. But I still regret time and effort spent on that ryobi. Then I found a cheap shindaiwa. Thank goodness for good brands that don't have the "big name" taxes. Keep an eye out for them, undervalued s/h because it's not a stihl or whatever. Trick is always finding the quality product that the masses don't overvalue. If they say the name it might be from people that know what it is so the price will be high. You'll need to look at ones for sale where they don't mention the name because they haven't a clue so they list it as generic/no name. Last edited by oldel; 19-05-2020 at 01:09 AM. |

Toss pots that can see that streets are empty for miles yet still press the button then cross.
All that does is stop the flow of traffic...
