Really? This thread isn't entirely about Schumacher's condition, despite the title. There has been discussion about whether or not the family should just switch off the life support as well as arguments over whether or not the public have a "right to know".

Gents, it sounds like you need to see all of her movies...not just the Hollywood ones.

Kind of a misleading title when their legal costs were far more than they were awarded.

Sort of given up on caring. They don't want to tell us then there's plenty of other things to worry about in life.
I will say though, and this is just my humble opinion, if he's been left a vegetable then what's the point of living? |

Today should be his 49th birthday. Whether he is aware of the occasion or can celebrate it is unknown.

So incredibly sad ...It's one of the tragedies of F1 .. Although I'm not a massive fan of F1 , I still enjoy watching the occasional GP if the opportunity presents itself and recall when Ayrton Senna met with that incredible bad luck from being hit by debris in 1994 or so . A great talent taken too soon ..Schumacher should be enjoying a great life , maybe a team manager or such, being a Dad and so on and another freak accident not even related to Formula One has done this to him . Fate is so cruel sometimes .

Hello,
I don't think its fate?..its life!....life is like that, lucky him having the best private health care money can buy, then our own overcrowded public hospitals struggling to help folk in the same situation as Michael! But accidents happen, life goes on when we get off this planet, it does not stop, but I have a bit of sympathy for his family, yes they are stuck in limbo, you know, would it look bad if we pay $53 million for a holiday home ( palace ) what will folk think? Mmmm, I have one lasting memory of Schumacher and another for his mate Vettel, and it was Monaco and he feigned mechanical failure to ensure no one would beat his time on the final practice lap?...pure cheating, maybe its a German thing, the water maybe, didn't Vettel do it in Turkey a few years back. I have been in public hospital spinal units 5 times in Sydney and I was thankful, I was thankful because I was getting out after surgery, the poor buggers in my 4 bed shared room weren't going anywhere, sometimes I wondered what would become of them, in reality some el cheapo NHS facility that would be I'll equipped to care for them. No,I'm sorry Michael is in such a bad situation, but he's better off than most, and he's a cheat like Vettel! Cheers Billy. |

Either his wife is preparing for her life without Michael, or this is another step in his rehabilitation process.

Maybe people need to mind their own business and let him and his family do the same!
I have a feeling he is either a vegetable or paralysed like Christopher Reeve? He may not want his fans to see him all screwed up. Its very obvious his family want to keep it all "in the family" We don't even know what's wrong with him? What is wrong with him?.all I heard was brain injury, not spinal injury, but you can correct me if I'm wrong! I reckon everyone should stop speculating, I can't see his family talking the "nitty gritty" of his injury with the press! Billy. |

Sounds like he has been in a non-communicating, non-mobile, vegetative state since the accident. Also sounds like there will be no recovery.

Well I have read every post in this thread and it surprised me that it occurred on New Year 2013!..that's 4 1/2 years!
Geez I didn't realise it was so long ago, so he is either à vegetable ( probably the wrong word ) or he is totally immobile. We do know he was talking to the paramedics immediately after the crash, but he had a brain bleed, so swelling inside the scull and drilled to relieve pressure in his scull. I am sure if he could talk he would, his damage is in the brain not the spine it seems,I hope he is in a permanent coma, just sleeping and floating around somewhere nicer than his hospital room!..and of course pain free. I feel sorry for his family though, but with the amount of fans he has, and its the fans who give him his lifestyle and income, but being such a public figure I don't really comprehend why his wife ( next of kin ) does not allow his medical crew to release more information. Its not fair on his fans, and I am not one by the way, I liked his skill as a driver, not the person! Billy. |

So his missus spent a stupid amount of money for a mansion and he is still basically a vegetable.
I feel sorry for the bloke. Alive but not living. Drives a F1 car at 100s of kays for many of years and not a scratch, but hits a rock while skiing even with a helmet and he's ****ed. |

that may be in some peoples eyes, but I bet his wife and son (and all family) are happy that he is still alive, and not dead.

The article does mention that the new property his wife has bought is also near a brand new university hospital and private clinic with specialists doctors which could mean a couple of things.
With the money the Schumacher family is worth they can afford to spend in the hope they find someone or some other means to help his recovery or it could just simply mean they still live their lives even though Michael can’t and she has bought a beautiful holiday home which would most likely also be a good investment. I know of people who have family members who are nothing short of vegetables but that doesn't stop the rest of the family from living on. . |

I do not think I have spoken on this thread. I must admit it is distressing to me. I admit I have appreciated the skills of many great engineers and drivers since I was young. Many may not be recognized here, but I am sure many are, such as Bruce Mclaren, Denny Hulme, Greg More, and many others. Too many to name.
I have followed Michael Schumacher (Schuey) since karting days. Taking his style forward even transforming how to win in world sports car, then turning the second tier Benetton team into the world F1 champion then moving the Prancing Horse to the pinnacle it had lost and then regained under Schuey's determination to win and dominate. I recall he loved his mothers and grandmothers home made spaghetti. I think Schuey is lost. My best to his wife, family and friends. |
