I am unsure but if the wheels are on the car can you measure the distance between the outside rotor face and the inside of the spoke at the most outer part of the disc and let me know.

After booking the car into bridgestone the guy has now gone a but cautious about saying they will def fit so he said once they fit one can I check that they will be ok before putting the rest on. So currently it just has the standard brakes so once he fits one wheel what clearance measurement am I looking for that will mean the brembos will definitely clear? Thanks for your help matt. I bought a fair bit of stuff through race brakes for my vl turbo show car and like everyone on here will agree when I say that your willingness to help people and your knowledge is second to none and is greatly appreciated

Thanks for the feedback.Generally the wheel manufacturer will know if it fits the factory Brembo brakes. What i generally use for the front is this "measure the distance between the outside rotor face and the inside of the spoke at the most outer part of the disc and you need atleast 90mm gap" I will try and find a template and we are finally working on a Brembo 6 pot kit that moves inwards a fair bit plus we have other kits under way that sit minimum 10mm further in.

Medium 6 Piston caliper mounted to 322mm Ford rotors all made now for testing and to see how many 17" and up factroy wheels we can clear. The calipers used are a new caliper on top of the others that we are looking at suppling now. Will have photos and more info as we progress.
What various size wheels do the honeycombe come in?

I can confirm that the 19" rims fitted to the FPV GS clear the 6 pot brembo's.

Can someone clarify if the genuine ford BA FPV GT wheels 18" x 8, which is the 7 spoke wheels (offset 28.5) clears the rear 4 piston brembo brakes?
Thanks.

Does the kit that moves the disc & caliper in fit the 19" Xr option wheels?

Finally have our Brembo 6 piston deep dish brake kit ready for testing to suit AU11 to BF and we have this bolted up clearing a 2 piece 18" simmons wheel.
The caliper sits inwards by atleast 30mm over the factory kit but we will confirm this and so far the only mod to the car is to turn a bolt around on the suspension so the caliper doesn't foul. Hopefull this will fix most problems when trying to use factory wheels and we still use a 355mm disc rotor with a custom alloy hat. The kit will be fitted soon to a AU11 ute and be tested on the track. FG Kits will be next.

That sounds like the original GTP wheel not GT mate. They had 5 twin spokes. GTP had 4 pot front/rear standard in the first series

Thought i'd just put these up here. Yup, Simmons rip off, but I personally think that Simmons are overpriced. Ive never had a set and im sure that theyre top quality, but for those who want the look but not the price these might be a nice alternative, especially considering the offsets, colours and the fact they cover them big brakes

The wheel deal has a wizard which inclides refining your search for wheels by clearing brembos

The medium 6 piston calipe on the factory 322mm rotor is done but the Brembo kit may be longer to do as we have found a big difference in the offset of the spokes in the FG wheels and also the kit we first looked at needed the bracket trimmed and the bottom bolt on the suspension turned arounded so the caliper didin't foul so we have to look further into it.
We also have new aftermarket caliper which is better and bigger than the one used on the 322mm rotor that fitst hefactory 355mm rotor and has 5-10 mmm more clearance than the Brembo caliper so we may use this one for our kits if it works out ok on this FG project.

Great thread this one and choc full of useful info, thanks must be said to all that have contributed.
I've just read thru it all and have drawn the following conclusion on brembo set ups. If the front wheel clears 6p fronts it should clear 4p rears... And by clearing having 3mm should keep you out of harms way. I'm looking to fit a set of 20s in an 8.5 to my BFII. Looking into a bunch of different rims (a few I've now obtained info on from this thread) including the Simmons fr20-1s but I don't think there is any feedback on these as yet? |
