Genisis G70, the mention of it I actually saw one parked the other week at my local.
Went around it a couple of times, looked pretty spiffy got to say imo. Stinger style like front and rear kind of MB Class. Not a bad effort.

But just not feeling the front end look of it. If infiniti could get more market share (and not drop out of the country) ... the Q50S is a much nicer proposition

It reminds me more of a Honda to be honest. Not my cup of tea

The i30N looks to me like Hyundai has taken a lot of design cues from other manufacturers, just not the good ones.

Finally got around to test driving the Stinger.
Was honest with them that I'm a very doubtful buyer but if they were still happy could I drive it. All good. Right. Impressions (Good and bad for anyone interested) Quick. Being used to fast cars it wasn't unexpected, but had lots of midrange pull which my R36 lacks. (As NA). Not a drag car but more than enough power stock for most. Very good build quality. Definitely felt well made as I've never been in a KIA before. Seats could be improved. Handling was good, not great. I'd definitely put my R36 above as feels a lot sharper albeit harsher ride. Far too quiet. Like above that can be improved of course but it's a key part of the driving experience. Car manufactures ignore this too often, especially in the sports sector. Great looking from certain angles, awkward from others. Like most cars I guess. Would I buy one? Definitely yes. New? No. Too many second hand cars I like more that are cheaper at the moment. I'll wait a couple of years as prices will drop quick I suspect so let's see. Hope that helps anyone who may be considering a Stinger or (Like me) never driven a KIA. |

Great to hear you got into one eventually Chris.
I too was surprised at the mid range the car had and yes, the car is quiet. But I think due to manufacturer regulations and cost, it probably had to fit a maximum dB range. That said, the turbo's do muffle a lot of engine exhaust noise naturally. I agree with the angles and looks. Im still not a fan of the grille. It looks cheezy and cheap in my opinion. It could be the shape of it Im being picky on. I do like the rear though and think its attractive. Give it a few years though and the prices will eventually come down. But if they arent going to make any more for the Australian market, there is a chance the prices will remain stagnant for a while. After all, the new model will always push the prices of the old model down naturally.

My experience with the Stinger was that it would make a great daily driver/family hack.
Would it give me goosebumps as a weekend fun car? Probably not, but then again I don't think anything short of 8 cylinders would (maybe a WRX.)

Spot in in all those points Shav.
Certainly enjoyed the "power anytime" feel as that's one downside of mine as you need to really drive it to stay quick. No doubt on exhausts and reasons why. I guess with all the fancy different exhaust modes have I'd have hoped KIA could have made it happen. Again, not a big deal as easily upgraded for those who wanted to. Yep on angles and grill. It's a really svelte looking car but like most there's parts which don't work. Compared to the i30N sedan it's miles better imo and if badges removed could be mistaken for a Euro easily. Wasn't meaning a price crash more a settling. Still room to move considerably to get into more my range but once there then yes who knows. |

I thought so too. V8’s in my garage since 1982. Standard, modded, Clevo and Boss and plenty of fun......... until I jumped into the AMG and realised there’s just as much fun to be had, maybe more as its so much faster and more capable on all of my favourite roads. ( and it’s still stock ! )

Kia dealers offer an optional Bimodal exhaust, quite pricey though.

I know there seems to be more of a following with aftermarket items for this car now. But give it a few more years and I reckon there will be more on offer eventually.

I guess what I’m saying is that there are a ton of great cars out there. We’re spoilt for choice as it’s no longer a Ford v Holden monopoly for performance and the second hand market is brimming with them. I’m not really a fanboi of any brand. For me if the glove fits I’ll wear it.

Had Mum's car serviced yesterday and all done, unfortunately didn't start when I went to collect (I know......)
Anyway they lent me a Kia Kona overnight until they resolved the problem today. Not my kind of car at all and would never buy one, but what a well made, easy to drive SUV. Very impressed and would be perfect for many buyer's. |

I wouldnt buy any asian car again unless its a toyota corolla or camry and it would have to be a hybrid.
I've found that the fuel economy of any asian car that I've owned is the same or worse than the falcons that i've owned, the only difference is the lack of towing capacity and lack of power and the more difficulty of repairs on the engine and higher cost of parts on asian engines. Tried pricing 6x fuel injectors for a 90s 3VZ-FE? you have to import refurbished ones from the USA and get lucky that you got an honest seller that doesnt sell you ones that have been just cleaned. A fuel pump carrier was priced at $800 from toyota. i asked him for the fuel pump... guess he meant the carrier and pump too. Fuel injector was $600 each. ECU needed replacing too but thankfully the problem was a leaky capacitor and I repaired it and the corroded trace. Traffic has never been worse on the roads too and I'm concerned with crash protection especially with all of the 4x4s and suvs on the road. If I had ever crashed my previous Vienta I wouldnt be alive. But I have no intentions of ever selling my AU3 Falcon Ute so it would have to be a second car. If I was stuck with having to buy a new car I would get an F-150 or mustang or ranger. Last edited by gooseneck; 22-07-2020 at 04:04 PM. |

I think people have trouble getting emotionally attached to fords because of the common perception that domestic market cars are more unreliable than asian cars or that asian cars are more reliable than domestic.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...id-of-your-car I feel like the smaller a car is the easier it is to get emotionally attached to them. Maybe that is why fords are more difficult to get attached to because they are more "butch" and more of a "bully" when on the road? I dont believe that mere looks and aerodynamic efficiency and better performance and supposed better reliability is the reasons why people are buying foreign cars. I believe its all marketing and the desire to own something that looks better "more refined" but when it boils down to it to get the same performance and room as a falcon you need a car that looks just like a falcon, a large family car. The Kia stinger to me looks just like a falcon only difference is the rear A pillair angle is steeper on the stinger and there is different headlights and more air vents. If that was all that stood between a flock of Ford buyers and them running to buy a Kia Stinger then what the hell? Last edited by gooseneck; 22-07-2020 at 08:16 PM. |

When we still built cars here, I'd never buy a foreign car (unlike most people that did, and sent our manufacturers out of business).
Now - sure, if it does it for me, I'd buy a Stinger. |

I was emotionally attached to my vienta that I just got rid of at the wreckers and I feel like I just had to put down a pet. I owned it for 5 years. Maybe I need to own a Ford for that long? I find it difficult to get attached to my AU ute but I've only owned it for a month. Last edited by gooseneck; 22-07-2020 at 08:24 PM. |

Dunno Mercury I think maybe you are a bit of a badge snob. You say you don’t like Kia,s then sometimes you admit you don’t know who makes what or why you don’t like them!!
