Why is it decades ago if a car was in primer/undercoat/flat finish it would be questioned by constable plod but these days you can vinyl wrap a car in a flat finish or buy straight from the factory in a flat colour.

About 35 years ago, I was pulled over by a NSW highway patrol at about 2.00am, coming home from a late shift, probably because I was the only car within cooee. I was initially a bit apprehensive that it was for exceeding the posted speed limit, but ... no .... RBT.
At the time, I was in the process of restoring the interior of my wagon, and everything was out except the driver's seat and seat belt.
Well, did I get a going over after the negative breath test. Where was the rest of the interior, why was it out, how long had it been out, who was doing the repairs, where was I working, what size under-daks did I wear ?
Drivers license checked multi times, bonnet up looking for mods, under the car looking for mods, tyres examined with a micron-microscope. About 10 > 15 minutes of my life explaining the ridiculous questions and probing accusations.
At the end, I was given the excuse that he was looking for a similar vehicle that had been involved in some horrendous activity. He didn't share my amusement when I questioned how many bright yellow HJ wagons were around. I was told to proceed on my way, and to "be careful."
Must have been a slow night.

I have no idea why some people are attracted to this type of finish..........paint should be shiny not dull like it's been sitting in the sun for three decades.

Matte wraps are at least removable, but matte paint is a nightmare waiting to happen. With normal paint, if you end up with swirls or RIDS (random-isolated-deep-scratches), you can polish them out. On matte paint, you can't polish as it will turn the finish glossy. So, you end up with paint you can do absolutely nothing with as it ages and accumulates the normal wash-induced swirls.

I suspect the ones who pay the extra money for dull paint are not long-term owners. As in, the car is just another luxury purchase that will be traded in for something different when the lease runs out. Just take a look at the type sitting behind the wheel of a matte (Frozen) BMW or Mercedes-AMG, typically one of the large Coupe SUV's (which are another "why is it" question in itself). Said driver will be a female covered in fake tan, puffy botoxed lips, eyelash extensions and wearing those skin tight exercise pants, while the male will be of middle eastern appearance in his early 30's driving with one hand on top of the steering wheel and reclined back as if he is still trying to impress the girls cruising main street on a Saturday night. Yes, I'm an observant man.

Wouldn't happen to have been in Sydney's Northern beaches area ? If so, there was a series of abductions/rapes going on a one time & a yellow Holden panel van was involved.

In an attempt to avoid the usual weekend rush at Bunning's, I decided to go there after 6pm tonight. Well, that plan worked out very nicely, although it did remind me of an observation.

Why is it...............that in a relatively empty carpark people have difficulty picking a parking spot? As if it's just too hard to have so much choice. You know the sort, driving at a crawling pace dithering over if they should turn into the next bay............no, wait................maybe the next one................no, maybe this one................ then with 14 empty spots, which one do would be best...................

Just bloody GET ON WITH IT and park for fu.ks sake! It's not hard, I promise. Often, I will have parked and be entering the store and they will still trying to figure it out. And yet, we give these idiots a driving licensee.

These people are also highly likely to be the same dorks who park right next to you in an empty carpark.

With their feeble brain they are trying to work out which bay is closest to the door entry, this is one of the reasons I hate going to bunnings.

It's interesting to observe the Bunning's customer pattern depending on the time and day of the week.

Weekends, its generally customers in their early to late 30's who are either weekend warriors on a mission, or those who treat it as a social outing to eat disgusting sausages and clog up the aisles making small talk.

Weekdays, its two very different customers -

- Early in the day, its tradies on a mission, they get in and out as soon as possible.....................be warned, don't get in their way, their time is worth more than yours!

- The other type arrives from mid-morning to early afternoon, generally those of retirement age and are there to buy cheap crap with a "that'll do mentality". Then, when they get to the counter it's almost like a surprise that money needs to change hands, que the extended wait for them to fish around for a credit card, or worse, counting out the amount in 0.05c coins. These are the same customers who struggle to choose a park, usually in a crappy MG SUV.

Nighttime shoppers, well, they tend to be of a certain race. When I was in retail, these customers were usually the sort who would arrive at 5-minutes before close, ask if we are closing, then continue to walk in and wander around for 30-minutes...................then leave without buying anything. They also had a habit of taking up your time by asking question after question, then walk out empty handed armed with what to buy elsewhere....................I called them data miners.

Mate you really need to buy a shitbox, it'll honestly change your life.
Heres how.
Get something small and zippy like a Getz or a Fiesta. For me its a sunburnt early 2000's Corolla.
Slap some third party insurance on it and all of a sudden the Bunnings, or any other carpark for that matter is no longer your nemesis but a Motorkhana circuit ready to be conquered.
The mouth breathers are now witches hats to be negotiated any way you see fit, speed humps are no longer a fear but a test of suspension and footpaths are always an option.
The finish line? Thats the spot closest to the door that you'd never have considered in a treasured car.
The Champagne spray? Opening your door on some cheap, imported SUV. After all you know they do it to you

I’m almost always behind an elderly person at the checkout who asks a question about something they are purchasing delaying the process.
Self check out FTW.
And I’m the tradie running in and out, time is money, except the bunnies plumbing section is woefully under stocked with missing items. Unfortunately Reece don’t open late.

The local Bunnings has closed off the self-serve registers, which was at about the same time they appointed uniformed security officers on the exits.

I'm one of those weekday tradies as well, hence my little rant over time wasters. However, at the risk of taring myself here, but geez some tradies have a high level of self-importance, as if they are God's gift to society. And that applies on the job site as well.

I certainly didn't appreciate being looked down upon by some of the tradies I've come across, not to mention leaving tools all over the place knowing full well that they would be in the way once I needed to mow that section. I know their time might be valuable and moving tools for the loser mowing the grass was beneath them, but my time was valuable too, we were all trying to get our jobs done.

Oh, and yes, the plumbing section is woeful.

Haven't seen any security guards in our neck of the woods, but the self-serve checkouts in the 4 that that I buy stuff at ( have to shop around as some stores are out of items ) are usually closed.
Stock reply to the same question at them is "Lack of staff." Really ?

Followed a car into the carpark of the local shops the other week.
Crawls in at under 5kmh, unable to decide which way to turn, left? Right? Lets go left (the way I want). Looks like they are taking that spot...No, car glides back to the centre of the aisle. Maybe this one? No, glide back the other way. 3rd time, same.
At this point, Im just watching now, the car is now in a place where it would have made more sense to initially turn right (you know, 5 minutes earlier).
They take the spot closest to the supermarket door.
I have already parked.
I look over to see the passenger jump out the car....its my mum.
Man, dad cant drive for shit these days!

While we are on poor parking etiquette........................

Morons who hold up traffic attempting a reverse parallel park on a busy road when they could have just driven into the park not more than 2 meters ahead. Boggles my mind how so many people miss this.

You seriously need to relax, after reading some of your posts lately, you are heading towards in blowing a gasket. I was like you a few years back, being very angry at everyone, I learned to take my time now and being patient, now I feel better for myself.
Life is what it is, please chill out.

Cheers.

I blew the gaskets years ago, so that ship has already sailed. Dealing with chronic pain has had me on edge since 2014, my tolerance for bullsh.t and village idiots is thin. It is what it is, but thankyou for your concern.

Why is it some people feel the need to make comments against what someone else has clearly enjoyed doing or creating? Comments that insinuate and clearly circle around negativity, but without being specific.................in turn trying to get a response.

I've never understood this. Why discredit someone else's interests or what they enjoy doing, ignorant to the fact that perhaps their interests might be a waste of time in my mind. However, a gentleman has enough respect to understand we all like different things and therefore don't feel the need to take others down for no other reason than to make themselves appear stronger or more intelligent in front of other men.

Chairman's Award: Chairman's Award - Issue reason: Your outstanding contributions to this community have not gone unnoticed. IN my view you are a worthy recipient of the (rarely used) Chairman's Award.

I reckon it’s a characteristic of weak people.

That kind of bullying-out-of-cowardice is a soft option compared to introspection with an eye to self-improvement.

I'm hardly a sociable person, but somehow I know what is appropriate or when to be polite, and if I can't do either, then its best to say nothing at all. Some people don't seem to grasp that concept.
