You still want it recognisably Falcon otherwise you lose buyer continuity.
Ive seen suggestions FPV will be trimming 2 engines from their lineup. |

The Falcon is struggling in sales, no one is buying them anymore! I really do believe that the car needs to be different in order to win back customers. Ford need to convince consumers that, this is a NEW falcon. The days of leaving customers behind in technology, fuel economy and options are behind them. They need to change the public perception and let them know that Ford have finally caught up with the competition - the new Falcon is different. Failing to do so would see the Falcon dying a slow and painful death imo Nothing changes if nothing changes. |

Falcon draws too much on the past, that's why buyers are moving on.....
Let's see how VF goes this year before we get too excited or pessimistic... |

Thin out the line, drop the xt and make the G6 the entry vehicle, introduce a turbo diesel The lineup I'd like to see with engine packaging, get some global loving going. Falcon (no badge) to replace XT and G6 for taxi and fleet market $29k petrol / $32k diesel - Ecoboost 2.0 standard (184kw/340nm) - Optional 2.0 Turbo Diesel (120kW/340nm) Falcon XR, XRD and XR6T Can't really get away with dropping the xr6 naming $32k petrol / $36k diesel / $40k v6t - Ecoboost 2.0 standard - Optional 3.2 Turbo Diesel (147kW/470nm) - Optional Ecoboost 3.5 V6 (272kw/475nm) Falcon Ti, TiD, and Ti6T To replace G6E and G6ET $35k petrol / $38k diesel / $42k v6t - Standard Ecoboost 2.0 standard (184kw/340nm) - Standard 3.2 Turbo Diesel (147kW/470nm) - Optional Ecoboost 3.5 V6 (272kw) All components manufactured overseas. Assembly and testing performed in Australia. Future models to switch to fomoco global base (...lightened version of the fg base would be pretty killer I think...) FPV excluded because they're niche, should probably be treated like AMG, M, RS badging on euro models. Bit of a wishlist I suppose... unfortunately Australian auto journalist would sink it all with their negativity.

I don't understand why Falcon SHOULD be cross shipped with an ST.
The Falcon needs to be more expensive, its a bigger car. If the value in that isn't right Ford need to add equipment, not cut prices. If they start selling large cars for small car prices they may as well build a small car. |

They were going to. And reversed the decision. And it now has more equipment than Falcon and outsells it.
It's going to get shopped against it because most people don't NEED a car the size of a Falcon (or a Mondeo or even a new Mazda 6). Why would I pay extra for a Falcon with less equipment just because it's bigger. In most cases I don't NEED that space. I don't NEED all of the gadgets either, but there's more chance I'll use the gadgets than there is that I'll use the acres of space or tow a horse float... People who need acres of space buy 4wds these days. Stack a Falcon full of STANDARD gizmos and charge a few grand more, OK. But more price for less equipment doesn't add up to me. |

Hear hear. Sums it all up, when you can get a car with more kit for less. VF sales will be interesting as it addresses this problem somewhat. Well despite the fact the omega looks dumpy/.

Final funding for the 2014 Falcon and Territory has been approved by Dearborn, so it's full steam ahead now.

Model approval and the funds that go along with it come in several stages. Business case, concept and design, engineering and attribute validation, process development, etcetera. Each stage has benchmarks/KPI's attached to it in order to unlock the development funds for the successive stage. It gives management an easy 'out' if they think it isnt going to work.

I always thought the de-tuned S/C V8 should've been the XR8's motor while the FPV GS is dropped. In fact, when the FPV GS came out, I thought it was supposed to be a limited run anyway.

Ford will burn in hell in my eyes if they shitcan the ute. But yes, I can't see the logic in cancelling it before the platform finishes its run. All they really need to to is put the updated front and interior on the existing body along with whatever mechanical changes there are, the rest of it can stay as is.
And?

VE/F ute is probably easier to justify next to Colorado than Falcon ute is with Ranger.
