If I can have one last word about cruise control ...
I hired a Taurus in CA a couple of years ago and it is the only car I have ever driven that maintains the exact speed up hill or down dale. I know it was correct because I was using a GPS at the same time. Wish that SC device was in every car. |

Seriously though, I agree that a speed limiter could get you into trouble but an audible speed alarm would be more appropriate. I recall my BA had one (I think) but I haven't had a Falcon since and my 07 Mondeo and 11 Focus don't have that feature. Last edited by Focused; 01-06-2014 at 03:50 PM. |

Really? My FG XR8 changes back gears to hold speed going down a hill, I wouldn't say it holds it exactly but it stops you going too far over. Seems odd they would remove this feature for the MKII.

Perhaps the engine compression from a v8 is able to slow the car down better. It would be cool if the new falcon used the brakes as well ;-) (keeping it relevant) |

The feature was never there to remove. Dropping a gear is still there but braking in CC feature is something that is not on Falcon.

I wonder if that means anything. You know with all these rumours circulating that FH may not happen... :-)

Someone seen one the other day with a Territory. So I wouldn't take it too seriously. Id say they have signed off on the car now.

the best one i've had for keeping speed is the FG2 XR - shifts back through gears as well as being very good at holding engine speed without shifting back if the decline isn't too steep, but that's just down to the brainy transmission in FZ news i believe the majority of the testing would have been done. When you think about it there's not all that much new stuff to road test. Adaptive cruise maybe, lane departure (possibly) and what else? it's largely just an FG that's been to Beverly Hills.

some great pictures in that article fordwood..
i'm not a fan of what looks like red reflectors in the the lower bumper of the grey one, but i guess they added them to balance out the fact the tail lights are so high and thin now, the rest of the space is a blank canvas you'd imagine.

Looks like XR8 gets the LED upright in between the light cluster.
Also those ones on the truck are fresh out of the factory, they still have the barcode stickers on them! Interesting!

My old FG XR6 LE *manual* (the LE just before MkII was launched) held its speed while going down a hill very well, actually!! Could feel the gentle deceleration...

What vztrt said is correct, people need to google adaptive cruise control and read up on the difference. It activates the brake when necessary, where standard cruise like that in the Falcon has no access to the brakes, and if you push them the cruise cancels. anyway moving on

Looks good apart from the Dunnydoor's antenna. A sharkfin would have completed the look.

Probably an illusion because of the padding? Rear quarter sheet metal is the same as FG so I can't see it looking a lot fatter from the rear.
