I recall earlier in this thread that pictures of a territory showed it with new 19" wheels and side steps. Looks like this could be standard kit on some of the models?

The G6E is what is floating my boat, looking very smart indeed.
I'd really like to.see the Titanium name used on Falcon. Hey, even drop the unmemorable G6 badge and juse call the top of the line car the Falcon Titanium Turbo. Mike

Good point. I assume that the G was in relation to the FG model designation? So, logically, the new model should be the H6E turbo?
C'mon Ford, drop the name, no one seems to know what it is. I'm looking around for one to buy and still have to explain to my friends, some of who are car guys, what the hell a G6E turbo is!!! Mime

Don't make me throw up.
Fairmont = Old and Crusty. Fairmont = Poor mans Fairlane. All my friends (born in the 80's) knows what a G6E Turbo is.

they'd know what a Fairmont Ghia Turbo was too had it kept that nameplate - it's about the car not the name

Its not all about the car, its the image that comes with the name.

so you wouldn't buy an FZ G6ET if the name was reverted back to Fairmont Ghia Turbo for the final model? The Fairmont was introduced here in 1965, everyone knew/knows what it was and made zero sense to cull it. The theory would have been to make the replacement more catchy and edgy. Did that translate to sales? What are the latest sales figures?
i would have left it alone til the bull rode out of the stadium because i don't think it made the slightest difference other than being slightly more confusing to some. Either way who cares now ;)

Ford lost the right to the Ghia name, hence its gradual replacement once models came on stream.
At launch Ford said the 'FG' code and G6/E naming was a nod to the history of the 'Fairmont Ghia'.

So that's another reason why it might not be called FZ or FH or FX. That fact it was an FG was due to Fairmont Ghia. Doesn't make sense for the next model to be Fairmont H/Z/X.

Did replacing the Fairmont badge with the G Series work? The jury is probably still out but either way, they had to change something. |

i've never read or heard anything saying ford lost the 'right' to it, they simply stopped using it as a re-branding, or renovation rather. Fire a link at me if you think that's wrong and i'll read.

I supplied the pictures and gave hints and all that and the legendary Trav Jordon put this together for me.
I think it looks almost exactly the same as the new Falcon XR8, hope you like it guys! Last edited by Callum31; 05-06-2014 at 09:26 PM. |

Don't get me wrong, I think Fairmont is a great nameplate, it's just, as others have said, that it was too old and gen Y buyers don't want to be part of the old boys club (similar problem Qantas faces when compared with Virgin but I digress). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

In my previous post I was suggesting that the G6 badge wasn't all that sporty or memorable. I do agree that the Fairmont name is a little old and crusty, despite owning a tastefully modified version of said car which is FAR from that.
I really think the Titanium badge is something quite special and would love to see it on the new Falcon. Mike
