I saw a first series Cortina this morning (Melb). White, four door, full reg., primer on the door bottoms and sills. Parked - with steering lock in place.

A week ago I saw a Gemini (mid 70s) parked in a side street (Central Springs Rd?) off Vincent St, the main street in Daylesford. Looks like it's been there for a while. You would see it if you walk - or drive - along Vincent St.

I had the 1986 AS Telstar TX5 Ghia . It is the only hatchback I've ever owned . She was the 5 speed manual with the 2.0 litre engine . The next one had the 2.2 litre engine or optional 2.5 litre V6 and turbo I think .

I had mine for 7 beaut years . Only issue was it did a couple of the ignition modules in a short space of time . After the second one failed I bought a spare module and it lived in the glovebox for a couple of years until I traded her on a 1996 EF Futura also a 5 speed manual .. Even though it was a little under powered it was a classy car and drove really well . It was a dark red and something tells me it was Regency I think but can't recall for sure .. Haven't seen one for yonks ...

I grew up in the 80's and I think the vans then were Bedford's, or ex Australia Post vans. Something like that.

Both ice cream and Australia Post ones.

Am I right in remembering that they had some sort of sliding door for the driver? I recall these vans driving around either with no drivers door or with the drivers door always open??

Imagine that today....

Earlier E* series falcons - EA, EB, ED. Including Fairlanes and LTDs of that vintage.

Due to low production numbers of later Falcons, give it another 10-15 years, they're all gone.

Someone has one of the late 80s two-tone (white / grey) TX5 turbos on my cycling route, I see it most weeks. Looks in reasonable condition too. I loved those when I was a kid.

Anyone else miss those soft, plush 90s velour interiors?

Oddly enough, for the first time in years during summer on the weekends there was 2 icecream vans operating in my local streets. One was a 2000ish transit, the other a bedford.
But one thing that really went extinct in the 90s, was the milk man. When i was growing up, twice a week the milk man would would deliver to the house. He drove a 70s datsun homer small truck thing. I think ive only ever seen 2 of those in my life.

500 was a trim level for the Falcons used in the 60's and early 70's.

Both had the optional sliding door.

I always liked the name Falcon 500, maybe coz dad owned a string of them in 60s - 70s (XR-Xc) rolls of the tongue well too

Not that there was a lot of them around when they were new anyway, but you rarely see the Suzuki X-90 anymore. There is one in town, that I primarily see parked on the side of the road, but it must be running because occasionally it's not parked there.

Id love to see a tidy one cruising around these days,or even a telstar turbo

My older sister had a red over grey mazda familia turbo awd in the early 90s,pretty sure it was identical to a tx3 turbo.
