Is there any way to make the rain sensing wipers act like normal intermittent wipers? The cars ability to sense rain when it's showering is frustratingly bad

You need to turn off the rain sensor for wipers on the center console

Have you tried to adjust the sensitivity of the wipers. The little wheel on the end of the wiper stalk can be rolled to adjust sensitivity. I have noticed it seems to be also linked to your speed, when I'm moving along at the speed limit the wipers go faster than when I slow to a stop at traffic lights.
I love my auto lights and wipers!!

Auto wipers and lights have been flawless for me so far.

Like turkish, I personally find the auto wipers can be pretty erratic at times. Auto headlights are perfect though.

Hi guys

Picked up my ST at the end of March and have done about 1500 k's on it.. At idle when the engine is warm there is a irregular knocking from the engine. Rattles for a few seconds then stops for a few more seconds, then comes back. Kinda sounds like valve noise but it only does it when it is warm and at idle. Had the complimentary checkup and Ford service said it is just "pulley's and compressor noise". Starting to annoy me though, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

Thanks
Matt

Haven't noticed that on mine and I'm about to tick over 11,000ks since Feb.

Knocking noise could be piston slap or a bad engine bearing if I'm not mistaken?

Could also be lifters etc. But it shouldn't be intermittent if it was.

Make sure you get an ipad/iPhone or equivalent video if this issue.
And present the video to the Ford service department next time you are in.
If, as it appears, other owners have not had this issue, then this video may be useful if you need to take it to Ford themselves.
Evidence is everything.

Oh wow yeah, that's definitely not right. It's a metal on metal slapping. Doesn't sound anything like lifters or injectors.

I still think it could be piston slap?

Definitely get them to do something about that mate.

It sounds to me as its just the variable cam timing pulleys making a clatter at idle, my wt does this too, they are not the quietest engine at idle. Wouldnt hurt to ask the dealer about it tho.

Interior fit and finish is a bit questionable, already developing squeaks rattles and vibes from the interior trims on mildly bumpy roads and when you've got music going.

Thats odd are they built in Germany like the WS or are these STs Thailand specials? My WS has no rattles/squeaks and its been driven on dirt roads a lot of its life.

The windows in mine rattle if they're past half way down (others have complained about this) which isn't great...

I also get a rattle in the back left when I play songs with phat bass. I'm not fussed about this.

Other than that, build quality (and lack of rattles/squeaks) is on par (if not better) than my old WS Fiesta.

I get rattles and squeeks on my passenger window only when I've just wound it up, it well then make noise on any bumps for a few seconds before settling down.

Main rattle is interior back left passenger trim when there is bass in a song.

Looking at trading in my LW Diesel Focus at years end for a FiST.

They've been around for a while now, do you think that a series 2 will be out soon?

Anyone with recommendations for Sydney dealers?

They're still on first model year so an update wouldn't be expected until end of 2015 at the earliest

I was thinking about trading in my LV TDCI but the trade in value is just too low so I'll keep it I think.

Thanks for the input martinijosh. I could be looking towards the end of the year/new year so that helps with the decision to shop around.

Damo, I know that well. But my inner child chooses to ignore such sensible facts and wants to just have fun :p albeit on a budget.

I could do it but I don't really want to decimate my savings at the moment

I'm looking at around $9K for my Focus as a trade-in.

I was hoping it would have been around $11K then that would be a bit more comfortable on the ol' bank balance haha.
