Hopefully “Tony” is a 99%’er.
What made me feel good today was a late lunch of leftover chips, served with surplus vegetable ragù and béchamel from making a lasagne two days ago. I amped up the unhealthiness with some Maasdam cheese melted on top. #guts #carbcoma |

After two years of trying to get up there, I booked grandstand tickets for me and my mate (who lives in Gosford) at the Newcastle Supercars round early March next year. Was supposed to go to the 2019 race, but I lost my hearing a couple of weeks before hand and was not in a fit enough state to drive.
I was planning to head up to see my mate last year and this year, too, but covid restrictions put pay to that idea, too. Given my luck, I thought it best to pay extra for the refundable tickets Can't wait!

Got an old granite clock working again after about 2 years of being out of action.
It was my step-grandfathers and was given to him as a gift on his first marriage, circa 1920s. It had been out of action for some time after my father had passed away, so I got some assistance from a local antiques dealer who also dabbles in clocks, and he got it going again. It was running fine for some time, but then stopped again. I found that the suspension spring (the bit that the pendulum hangs from) had failed. Looked like a stress crack. So we replaced that. Shortly after that, the ex and I split and when I moved to my rental property, it wouldn't run. I left it for a bit, but figured it was about time to get it going again. Touched base with the same clock guy (he runs the roster for the Sale clock tower winders, which I am now a member of) and we gave it a lube, checked that the bearings are ok (a little bit of wear in one of them, but nothing too significant) and changed the newish suspension spring out for a lighter one. Got it home, installed the mechanism back into the clock body, aligned the mechanism so that the rhythm of the pendulum was even, and it's run like a dream. It is a little fast (about a minute per hour), so I will need to adjust the pendulum weight a little to get it right, but apart from that, seems to be running fine. Just nice to be able to hear it chiming again!

At a guess, pre-strip is taking off the unwanted material to get to the wanted stuff. In our mine, we refer to that as overburden.

Have you tried to get it going at all? if so, what have you looked at? If you're not comfortable having a rack yourself, I could at least point out a few of the obvious things to look at for you, if you're interested?

My roof top evaporative cooler went on the blink last weekend and I finally got around to fix it today with the cheap cost of $400, I actually saved myself between $500 to $600 possibly more.
I should have jumped on the bandwagon years ago in this field of work and made a killing as this is one field where they charge like a wounded bull. |

If you asked me this question yesterday, the answer would have been nothing!
Tonight, I'm feeling good about being done for the year! No more work till January 4th!

Ive spent my whole life making other peoples irrigation systems work, only recently did i convert my own manual sprinklers to solenoids. Today i lashed out on an internet capable controller, controlled through a phone app.

About to go feed my neighbours cat, she's away with her family in Mandurah for Chrissie, I have to wear a thick gauntlet welding glove on my right hand, as soon as I put the dish down it goes into attack mode, but its a cat, it misses its owner feeding it

Mate, you'll have to wear double layers of jeans for the cats lunch if its that territorial. But, you never know, after a few days he might accept you as the hand that feeds him and maybe even appreciate your visits. Cats sometimes have odd personality traits. My brothers cat for example, she isnt aggressive, yet for years if you went to pat her back she'd dip it because she didnt seek attention. You couldnt scratch her behind the ears or under the chin, she'd run and hide. Now pats is all she wants, however she won't jump on your lap, she will only sit beside you. Also not the most intelligent animal either. She does silly things like craps beside the litter box then digs litter out of the box to cover it.

Knowing that Christmas is over with again, only 364 days to go before we have to face the mayhem again.
