I think that's more likely to happen for 2018. Then you have Mustang debuting it and plenty of time for Falcon engineers to refine it to the package

I know exactly what processes are involved, I just think your line would confuse some people on here, the program was 'guaranteed' some time ago in terms of funding by Dearborn though.

Quite frankly the car is not 'guaranteed' until it is here. If we take your line of thinking the Falcon would be powered by a V6!!! Lets be glad it has passed the next step.

Well there are how many brands and vehicles fighting for sales. From memory 60 odd brands and 300 models.

The Falcon & Ute comibined are well within the top 20. So, there is 1200 sales a month. This says people are interested in Falcon. What we need is more interest.

I for one have seen the 2014 Falcon and can tell you it is worth it. Very first impression was a 'yes', just like with the BA. They have it right.

I have no idea what the future holds but I hope our Falcon has a future beyond our shores one day. Be it tied in with Mustang or some RWD Lincoln sedan. I don't really care. As long as we build it here.

Rubbish. The car is signed off and given approval way more than a year before its release.

Using your line of thinking, it's not guaranteed a day before its release.

My point all along is that it is old news that we are getting a 2014 Falcon.

Details on how it looks please and how long before we start seeing prototypes on the road?

I have a Ecoboost on order and when I ordered it, I considered waiting the extra time to get a 2014 model to see what features it would have. So my thinking was, if I waited I may miss the opportunity to put the Ecoboost through its paces. Then if it is not what I thought, I still go the 2014 and back into a six. I was also a 2002 BA owner/lover and love my Fords.

When we did the discovery centre tour in 04/05, they were saying that the BA design was already signed off as the AU1 was released to the public. I don't know if it is true, but this is what they told us.

and it wont get anymore interest while people keep thinking that large sedans are inferior too other products. large car sales have been on the slide for years now. I don't like it and I am interested in falcon but besides us falcon fans who else is??? ford falcon fans vs people that buy other cars. we are a small bunch compaired too them. the falcon has a bad image (like commodore) that it cant shake at the moment.

Total understandable, but still saying stuff like that it will drive us ford guys insane .

I'm really looking forward to seeing what it looks like. Seeing that this could be the last falcon, I really hope they just go all out with with the design of it.

No it's not. Programs have been cancelled at job 1.
And 2014 falcon is nearing the final design milestone.

So the process must've changed for this model as opposed to every other Falcon in history?

I'm happy to be wrong, but are we saying that in the past that the EA wasn't guaranteed until 1987, the AU wasn't guaranteed until 1997 etc?

Of course it was. Approval for future models are given years ahead of time. Sure, I understand that there are milestones, but the overall approval is already given.

I guess you know better than those that actually work inside Ford!! Forgive me!!

This is not old news & is very much welcomed good news for 2014 Falcon. If you can't (or wont) understand there are stages of approval for any project of this size & it could fall over at any of those stages I can't help you.

Why are we even debating this for??

Does it closely resemble anything else in the Ford global line up?

Only if they get approval. Lol. j/k.

Seriously though, something like they did back in 1978/9 when they were drip feeding the release of the XD would be nice.

Will get the tech upgrades, the visual wont be as much of a change compared to the change for falcon. Remember in terms design cycle, they are out of sync.

I'm sure it'll be a great car, but by the time it launches VF will have 12 month headstart and the new Mondeo will have already hit the market. Honestly, how will it hold up then?
