I think that's more likely to happen for 2018. Then you have Mustang debuting it and plenty of time for Falcon engineers to refine it to the package

I know exactly what processes are involved, I just think your line would confuse some people on here, the program was 'guaranteed' some time ago in terms of funding by Dearborn though.

Are the public interested any more?
Is it all too late?

The Falcon & Ute comibined are well within the top 20. So, there is 1200 sales a month. This says people are interested in Falcon. What we need is more interest.

I for one have seen the 2014 Falcon and can tell you it is worth it. Very first impression was a 'yes', just like with the BA. They have it right.
I have no idea what the future holds but I hope our Falcon has a future beyond our shores one day. Be it tied in with Mustang or some RWD Lincoln sedan. I don't really care. As long as we build it here. |

Rubbish. The car is signed off and given approval way more than a year before its release. Using your line of thinking, it's not guaranteed a day before its release. My point all along is that it is old news that we are getting a 2014 Falcon.

I have a Ecoboost on order and when I ordered it, I considered waiting the extra time to get a 2014 model to see what features it would have. So my thinking was, if I waited I may miss the opportunity to put the Ecoboost through its paces. Then if it is not what I thought, I still go the 2014 and back into a six. I was also a 2002 BA owner/lover and love my Fords.

When we did the discovery centre tour in 04/05, they were saying that the BA design was already signed off as the AU1 was released to the public. I don't know if it is true, but this is what they told us.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what it looks like. Seeing that this could be the last falcon, I really hope they just go all out with with the design of it.

I'm happy to be wrong, but are we saying that in the past that the EA wasn't guaranteed until 1987, the AU wasn't guaranteed until 1997 etc?

Of course it was. Approval for future models are given years ahead of time. Sure, I understand that there are milestones, but the overall approval is already given.

Anyway, we are debating semantics. At the end of the day guys, I'm happy to be looking forward to another Falcon next year.

This is not old news & is very much welcomed good news for 2014 Falcon. If you can't (or wont) understand there are stages of approval for any project of this size & it could fall over at any of those stages I can't help you. Why are we even debating this for?? |

Does it closely resemble anything else in the Ford global line up?

Only if they get approval. Lol. j/k.
Seriously though, something like they did back in 1978/9 when they were drip feeding the release of the XD would be nice.

Will get the tech upgrades, the visual wont be as much of a change compared to the change for falcon. Remember in terms design cycle, they are out of sync.

I'm sure it'll be a great car, but by the time it launches VF will have 12 month headstart and the new Mondeo will have already hit the market. Honestly, how will it hold up then?
