I mention this a lot, but what is the point of taking and then using pictures of plastic buttons to accompany the listing? Like wow, this car has window switches. And even then, they are stained with chemical burns.





Considering this is a special/enthusiast car, why wouldn't you highlight the special aspects of the car. In this case, no mention or picture of the build number, no engine bay images at all let alone showing the carbon air intake, no images of the special wheels or brakes, no image of Sprint seat design. As it is, they just presented it like yet another white Falcon fleet car.

Not applicable to that car because it’s povvo spec interior, but common touch touch points. Some fussy buyers may want to see them especially when it a devious dealer trying to flog it off.
Say on the higher spec FGs, have silver on the steering wheel switches which start to wear off over time. Reduces the appearance and feel of the car. Not an issue on a $10k well used G6E but when a dealer is trying to get top dollar for an XR8 or turbo model…

Re devious dealers, this one asking too much for this FGX, went and had a look the other day and the area behind left rear wheel arch, under tail light and around the number plate has had a half arsed repair so the paint is a chalky satin/Matt black finish contrasting with the rest of the car.
Not noticeable in the pics but since I seen it, can make it out. Also the wiper arms are rusty and the trim panel air vent surround on the back of the centre console has broken off. Didn’t bother driving it after seeing that.
Would be spewing if purchased interstate off the dealers word and it turned up like that.

Im currently looking for the same for my Son as a first car, he wants a Falcon ute.
Looked at a BA yesterday, advertised as in good condition for a touch under 5k, get out there, heap of ****, dents in the roof, overspray or peeling pressure can paint everywhere, rust under the booster, spongy brakes.

Missed out on a 2 owner AU2 with sports bar and alloys by 30mins.
Not much available over here compared to NSW.

Picked up a nice 1 owner 2011 SZ TS RWD petrol in Chill with full dealer history today.
Could have had any number of diesel examples but specifically wanted petrol to keep maintenance costs down and they are hard to find in SZ TS form.
Paid a little bit more than I'd have liked as prices in SA are still up but itsin exceptional condition, no fade at all, trim immaculate, new battery, diff bushes and centre bearing

See, I find it hard to fathom paying $16k for a 13 to 14 year old ute with 190k km on the clock! Not what I would consider good value.

Good for me tho, as the 2013 ute that I paid less than $13k for 5 years ago and now has over 200k km on the clock is likely able to be sold for more than what I paid. Crazy!

You bought well at the time, I’ll be pleased if you do eventually return a profit on tenure of ownership.

High ute prices might propel a few more people into saving the Falcons, instead of scrapping them.

I paid circa 23k for my ute in 2017.
Ive had a saved search on carsales just cause.
7 manual FG turbo utes.
Mine would be the second lowest km wise comparing them. Mines in pretty good condition id say.
I had an offer during the height of the lurgy for 35k, rejected it as had no plan to sell.
I may be forced into/get a 4 door car as a second car this year or next.
I still really have no interest in selling it so ideally ill purchase a 4 door car and keep my ute.

Previous gen Raptor has dropped by some margin since the new one came out. Still pricey, but heading in the right direction. Needs a front locker for serious offroading, but if the price drops another few k, it's an aftermarket job worth throwing at it for what is probably one of the most capable offroaders, Wrangler Rubicon aside.

Good for you. Considering I was quoting Franco and his drug money comment, I suppose this could easily be taken out of context comparing it to.....(insert car here)

To me I wouldn't spend that kind of money on any newer car.

Guess it depends on what you think of as good value. My van cost $1100 incl 12months NSW rego bought only to drive back to Vic at the time.
Wasn't planning on keeping it but turns out glad I did, as its on rotation with the trucks, working for a living.

Paid for itself several time over.

Timing was good, that's for sure. Biggest hurdle is the dedicated gas. Not good value as a 2nd hand purchase outside of Vic, but still a reasonable market in Vic.

Offset a little by the fact it's a three seater, which are pretty rare. Not highly sought after tho.

I kinda get the prices for turbos. It's a performance model. Not that I'd pay that much for a turbo. Especially if it was going to be a daily driver. Garage queen would be a different story.

Maybe focus on my first para and not the second. For me, I can't see that value in a near on 14 year old car with that many kms. Maybe not quite in the drug money realm, but still way more than I think they are worth. I provided my car scenario as a way to show how the pricing is unreasonable. There's no way, IMHO, that my ute should be worth more now than when I purchased it. That's all I was trying to convey. Wasn't having a shot at you, RW.
