Seriously, they were a good car, but it would be a very graphic demonstration of how far our humble Falcon has come in just over 15 years.......

Would be good if they lined up all the previous Falcons in line to show the evolution. |

OFC a car labelled with 260kw shouldn't be as outright fast as one with 310kw. But you're talking a 17% difference in manufacturer's claimed output which might 'feel' similar. You can't go flat out in either of them on the street for any period of time (maybe for a couple seconds up an onramp or something occasionally) so a gap of 40rwkw (less than 20%) could well be there. Still they're both bloody powerful cars when you do. That's what I was getting at. The F6 is definitely punchier down low in the revs (6 speed helps) but when the XR8 is up high in the revs it feels almost as good. Seriously, I think it is more a case of people having problems than the cars on this forum most of the time. I'm guilty as anyone but I'm not the only culprit either. Just got back from doing the rounds of dealerships chasing trades, im a dealer, and had a long chat with a long time friend at a Ford dealership. It would appear that after the sell-out of the GT-F there is going to be a run of limited XR8's. He was told that as the XR8 has had @the same amount of years in the market as the GT, head office wants to give it a send off too.
The final runs may be in late 2015 if sales of the FH/Z are not good. so now if this is true do we wait or buy as soon as its out?

No the thread is actually about Fords. It is about arguing about which one is better and how anyone with an experience or opinion that is different to the mainstream motoring journalists' opinions on them must be wrong.

We were just discussing the final xr8.
Thread name changed to a more accurate title since it's not just "sneak peek" pics, it's a very broad and significant thread with many aspects to discuss. |

Guarantee they would refuse to acknowledge that an MPS would beat their stock b series around the track with no effort.

geez I'll never comprehend why they always choose to ruin these new cars by designing the front end to look like a beached fish gasping for air. No sense. Maybe if I was brought up with the everyday image of gasping fish/sharks/whales/dolphins then it would work but it doesn't. Ruins the entire vehicle for me. Why do that to a 40k+ vehicle? Everything else looks pretty good on it, I'll keep my EB or maybe even chop and change my EB front end onto the FH as that would probably look better.
Not just the ford wtf are those camry lights doing on the back end of a VF Commodore.

Get ready for probably the worst "spy" pic of the new falcon. I was driving on Welsford street in Shepparton and I noticed the new Falcon just waiting on the side of the road! I did a quick u turn and pulled over to take a photo, but they got away! Only snapped one of it at the lights. Not a big deal I guess, we all know what it looks like with camo.
But look at those brake lights ;) |

I'd personally wait right to the end, the deals will be superior as will all the bonus packages, also owning one manufactured in 2016 would be much more special I think.
Now that may be very unpatriotic towards Ford but it works both ways, no one wants poorly build big cars which a plethora of annoying little faults, warranty disputes, and also the major ones like diffs and wheel bearings and front discs. That's why they're going bankrupt... And then I look at the last GT which seems to be in high demand (by inhibiting production in the interests of a premium price tag and not honest work that rewards the Ford battlers that have stuck it out through the subpar quality for so long). I love how the average person no longer wants a ford (or holden) as they've proven to be substandard to the competition but the Ford patriots that have always stuck by them are the ones Ford now choose to rort a demand off and slap an extra 20k on the GT finals pricetag with no other justification other than demand. Lol if that's the case why don't they just make half and sell them for double or a quarter and sell them quadruple? Or just one final GT and sell it to Gina Rinehart for 1 billion?? Merely a matter of how far back can we push the brink to suit us until it results in uproar. They should be GIVING these loyal customers the final GT as compensation for their loyalty of putting up with head gaskets in the 90's and diffs in the 00's, the savings they made from leaving those people out of warranty with factory faults would've went into the production of this GT, so it would be more of a refund than compensation really. The thing I can't get past is for 100k you could buy a real car (but it wouldn't be as iconic I guess). Or even an actual XY GT which is the ONLY real one that may be worth a mint in 50yrs. edit: Sorry if the post is pessimistic, I've read a lot of things so far in regards to this GT and I honestly think it's appearing to be more of a marketing ploy than the correct goodbye everyone was hoping for. A lot of loyal people are now about to miss out for no good reason/inhibition.. and well 351kw..
