sohc. And yeah, put a load behind them and they will out pull any LS1/260 dohc/4.0t of the day. They didn't offer them in the F series for no reason.

My 3v fairmont ghia used to haul **** after I had it tuned and a few mods done. It would leave my mate for dead in his xr8, and was quicker than my F6 ute.
VERY underrated donk for sure.
Paul from CVE had his ghia run 11's on 20's with a rear mount turbo, pretty cool when you opened the bonnet and it was stock as a rock.

What is this thread about agian?

Nice effort with that snap, looks good.

The only thing I see there is the ridiculous incandescent centre stop light on the sedan. LEDs have been common since the 1990s and standard on all Commodore models since 2006, so it's sad to see the final Falcon with the 1990 EA-style centre stop light still in place in 2014!

How can you tell it's incandescent? Aren't the traffic lights down there LEDs, too? The lens flare looks the same on all the lights in that photo.

Has that pinkish glow to it that you get with standard bulbs going through a coloured lens.

You are right about one thing..."everyone else obviously knew this" - FPV and all its products cease with the end of the FG II model.

Don't worry about the GT-H, its whats under the bodywork that counts.

Try Reading this:

You might find this interesting:

http://www.motoring.com.au/reviews/l...4-review-44046

Quote:
(Extract).......The GT F's suspension and braking package is essentially taken from the FPV GT RSPEC launched in August 2012. And its good – perhaps the best in the class.

At the rear, the RSPEC set-up delivers higher spring rates, re-tuned dampers, a larger anti-roll bar, wider (9.0-inch) wheels and tyres, and reinforced rear lower control arms. The front-end benefits from stiffer upper control arm bushes and upper suspension strut mounts, and re-tuned dampers.

A revised toe setting on the rear wheel alignment also enhances turn-in response, says FPV, and the RSPEC upgrade also includes stiffer transmission mounts and a launch control mode for the stability control system.

The GT F further evolves the package with the addition of owner adjustable rear camber. This is facilitated via an eccentric bolt on the wheel end of the upper control arm and allows an extra degree or so of camber to maximise rear grip for track outings.

We can't really tell you categorically whether it works or not.

Indeed, our time in the new GT F at its launch at Ford's You Yangs proving ground was very limited – just a couple of chauffeured (albeit very quickly) laps around the freshly resurfaced ride and handling circuit and two laps on the iconic banked Constant Speed Track behind the wheel of a manual GT F 'mule' (still a GTP to look at, save for the wider rear wheels). Unlike others, we won't pretend this is a comprehensive road test.

On the ride and handling circuit, however, I was reminded of the engaging chassis characteristics of the RSPEC. Our Ford engineering driver pushed the car hard on the in-places-slick new surface, and what impressed was the sheer mechanical grip of the car and its poise in fast changes of direction.

Unlike some other performance cars in this genre, the GT F also rides well. Ford's chassis guys seem to always have been ahead of the game in this regard.

We can also vouch that the recalibrated engine is a muscular, super smooth and extremely refined powerplant.

If anything, it's better behaved and smoother than the generation it replaces and has big buckets of go. Although a 160km/h limit was placed on us
(no helmets, OHS rules), a quick blast through the gears had 200 and change up in the manual car in no time.

Simulated overtaking performance in fourth and fifth gears from around 100km/h was eye-opening. Where the old engine would start to bleed boost (and therefore reduce torque) at around 4300rpm, this one rolls on like a steam train.

My drive was in a manual only, but I'm reliably informed the matching of the new V8 calibration and the revised ZF six-speed auto is good. Both up and downshift strategies have been changed to make the most of the revised engine characteristics..............(con't).

Every comparison I read had the SS arriving at 100km/h faster.

Anywho back to the 2014 Falcon...

Sounds very scientific.

From my experience of actual drag racing, it doesnt take much road position to account for a few tenths on the stop watch, or much reaction to counter that.

From July Wheels :
Quote:
WHAT many people believe to be a minor visual update will be far more than that wen it lobs in November. According to Ford insiders, the last-ever Falcon facelift is set to surprise people with its level of change.inside, expect a neater centre-console design, up to date multimedia and new instrument graphics and trims. Outside, front an rear sheet metal will be new, along with bumpers and lights.
Best of all, affordable V8 performance will return with the XR8- utilising the former FPV GS's 315kW/545 Nm supercharged 5.0 litre V8

i reckon they're on the money with the 315, leaves room for either a power pack and/or special edition 335 down the track.

The metallic bronze featured on the Escort somewhere on this thread
would look great on the final Falcon.

The bronze is on FGII as well, just try to get them to supply an XR6 in that colour though!
