Fgpsi, the B series kept the same taillight design throughout the whole range, from XT right to Fairlane. Only complaint was the Fairlane just looked too much of a Falcon, unlike alot of the previous Fairlane's.

Rocketscientist, looks terrific, the gap between the upper and lower grille needs to be a tiny bit smaller and by looking at a picture from the tease video, it appears the new Falcon (XR8) will have a more square looking power bulge, wide and square...

Thanks. Out of curiosity, does anybody know if the Falcon used in the teaser vid was an actual car or was it CGI?

Fairlane had a different lower chrome mould, BF had a different lens.

One thing I hope that Ford doesn't do with this new Falcon is fill the lower model tail lights with red like Holden do with theirs. It just looks cheap.

^^And adds cost having another part. Why bother really (other than wanting to distinguish from upper models, I dont think the Germans bother with this though?).

Anyone else having issues with rockerscientists pic?

Germans do. Look at the hideous taillights of the previous Gen Golf and GTI, vs the brilliant LED hockey stick lights of the Golf R.

Yeah I was referring to the orange lense thing Australia companies have done in the past. Dont know why the bother.

Having distinction between levels is great..but just make all of them have the some lights and be done with it. Fill the upper models with more tech or nicer leather etc.

i wonder how long it will be before people start putting FZ front ends on their FGs. I'm guessing it'd just be down to:

bonnet & grille
front guards
headlights
bumper & foglights

who knows at this stage though.

That would be like putting an EL front on a ED. It would look horrid!

Yeah it will probably require a rad support change too.

I hope no body does it, but a few did with AU utes, with BA Fronts.

no it wouldn't. The FZ is FG based, same doors, interior, and i presume roof as well. It would look identical to an FZ by all reports at the front.

EL and ED were completely different shell wise, doors, front and rear, interior, everything.

from what i can gather FG to FZ will be very similar though, AU to BA had a different roof, different interior, and a LOT more of a change to be honest

Hmm..Yes FZ is based off FG so everything from A to C pillar will be more or less the same. We will see if the crease in the doors stay, Im guessing it would.

What looks identical to a FZ?....other than a FZ....

Not sure if serious about EA/EB/ED/EL...all the same (basically) from A to C pillar.

You can swap the Front end panels by all means (maybe some rad stuff but Im tipping thats more or less the same aswell), but there is not a single modern sedan shape that would pull it off with the exception of EA/EB/ED..BA/BF.

But I don't recall many people upgrading their 08 FGs with the new front bar, so why would they go to an FZ bar?
Plus, I think emotionally it's a bit much if you're trying to get into the "last ever falcon" by putting a FZ bar on an FG...

Or VE kits on VT's

i'm not sure if YOU'RE serious, an EL shares no panels with an ED in any way, they're all completely different, so it's a pointless comparison. Your comment is the same as saying BF is the same as FG, they kinda look the same from most angles but share NO panels. I've owned EA EB ED and EL so i can comment with some experience. FG to FZ shares basically the entire car with a new front and rear treatment. THAT was my point, i'm sure some people will look into doing it. Might i add that i am not interested in the slightest in attempting it, i was merely pointing out the possibility.

because it's not just a bar, it's the complete front end, incorporating (probably) HIDs, DRLs (factory) and the new styling. FG2 was simply a new bar, same headlights (shape) etc.

yeah it'd be something people would do down the track i'd imagine if at all

once the cars become cheap enough to by second hand, and someone writes off the rear end of their FZ. Not sure on the specifics of the SZ though

the rear end of the FZ would be a bit harder to replicate i guess

Just like an SZ Territory is the same car as SX Territory, but if you pop the bonnet on the 2 the SZ has a totally different rad support, to do an SZ conversion on an SX you cant just unbold panels, its a case of getting the grinder out.

ED and EF share the same turret and doors.

The only difference is the rear quarters and front ends.

Ford did such a good job disguising carryover ED doors in the EF. I thought nothing was in common until I pulled off the EL door trim and noticed the big trapezoidal shaped cutout in the door shell that matched the EA door handle
