Maybe they mean won't want it at the price they'd (have to/want to) charge for it

People in Australia today think that if they have to spend 75-80k on a car they would prefer to spend it on a luxury brand. That being European marques no matter the quality differences or perceived value. It's a shame some of us are that one eyed. Before anyone shoots me down about putting my money where my mouth is, I just bought a new Hyundai Santa Fe Highlander.

With my experience in Hyundai I'd have thought people would easily front 80k or even a bit more for a performance variant of those vehicles. Hyundai Palisade is gaining more traction as the months go on and they're at $80k+ There seems to be plenty of buyers for Grand Cherokee at 65-85k and not all of them are just buying them to tow either.

From the KIA/Hyundai stable though most seem to be happy with the after sales service and warranty claims.

Could be... I mean the 2006 Territory Turbo - 245 kW, was also never a big seller in its day, compared to the XR6T.

Would have happily dropped $10k more to have the same car with that engine... But I guess the market probably isnt there for it...

I don't know why more manufacturers aren't making performance SUV's. Ford were a bit slow to catch on, but with most of the passenger cars gone now they have finally started to make some with the Edge, Explorer and Puma ST's. Will there be an Escape ST?

We had a C4 Picasso and it was a good car but we drove in into the ground (look after it). But after 5 years with us and 8 on planet earth she was getting tired. But in saying that we took it places that the Frenchies would have a heart attack over...I enjoyed it for what it was.

Our work area recently submitted a business case for a lease car, and two kias made the final list: A four pot stinger and the petrol sorrento.
The work group is hopelessly divided about what they want, and this odd twosome is the result. The 4 cylinder stinger is more expensive than the sorrento, but i priced up the turbo six and it was too different (ie much higher) than the sorrento. Im hoping there will be an unloved stinger out there needing a home that becomes available first, before a sorrento. At least it would make driving for work a bit more pleasurable. But either car is many months to wait for, apparently.

I like the direction they're going, but can't seem to make a euro5/6 engine without major dramas.
First the theta 2, now the Nu engine. Funny they treat Aussie consumers like dirt, but bend over and recall the cars in USA. I know most manufacturers are having trouble improving economy and emissions, so it would be unfair to single Kia out, but every time I consider one there's at least one recall going on in the US, and heaps of people in Australia with similar issues being ignored for the same thing. So they always seem to have a drama about something and even if I had a non affected engine I kind of get the feeling any other problems I had would just be ignored by them here. Seems like they offer a 7 year warranty because they don't cover anything here anyway. They don't seem to care about our market. Last edited by oldel; 13-04-2021 at 07:12 PM. |

Our Cerato started missing at cold idle as it warms up the *koff* Cat.
Service dept couldn't solve the issue rightio my turn . Pulled the MAP sensor which was coated with oil due to my *koff* spirited driving up north and presto the problem is now solvered . Sent before and after videos to the service manager and they now have a fix for the next customer that drives this thing like it is meant too and i have been given a store credit to spend on genuine parts I also fitted a catch can and now the intake is completely oil free and this thing feels faster on 91 than on 98 :/ economy is the same 4.9L/100 either fuel, go figure! |

101 Ford customer service training "they all do that" Thing is I don't think the pay rates at any car brand dealership allow for fault finding skills. I know of one bloke that would he worked at a Mitsubishi dealer ship but recently retired. even then the service departments measure time on everything and don't want to make a loss.

Massive accolades for the Sorrento compared to the other competitors. That's pretty big news!

I just bought an Aurora Black Stinger with Red interior... I wont see it until July next year at the earliest, but i got it for a lot less than retail being a valued customer...
And that's worth a lot more to me than Sunshine Ford Ashmore ignoring me when i walked into their showroom just 100m away perusing their Mustangs !!! |

I'd buy one, would love to have an alpine parrot. Dunno if customs would let it out of NZ though.

In the running for looking at a replacement car ... the Cerato GT was near top of the listing.
In sedan guise. Such a lot of car for the money. much nicer looking than it's I30 Sedan cousin. Was really impressed with it. Wife decided she wanted a Mazda though (it was close though). And we changed our minds and went larger .... so there is a Mazda 6 Atenza on the way. But it was close to getting into a Kia. I think when it comes time for my son to start driving in a few years .... I'd be looking into Kia's for a first car. Look pretty solid a learner's vehicle.

Mainly for less issues and longevtity ... and money saving to clean valves, etc. especially for valve coating issues as the fuel is not being sprayed onto the back of the valves to help clean them off.
