I have a feeling that the XR6 is going to be outstanding and completely contrast with the softer, more rounded VF.

Yeah Holden has gone a bit feminine with the VF. I'm hoping the XR6 will look a little like a Mustang from the front.

For those arguing semantics, FG had final approval only given during 2006 as well, as was an early '08 launch.

Mondeo won't be in Australia until 2015. Read an article yesterday confirming Qtr4 2014 for Europe, so got to figure Australia wont get it until Qtr1, 2015

I hope the front of 2014 Falcon looks like the pics of the new Mustang!

I'd like to see a seat change with the updated model, with proper rear headrests. And better headrests in the front for that matter. They haven't really changed much if at all since BA.

I would love to see something like the BF. Just the look of them is amazing. The in your face grunt they hold. I'm not a fan of this new day big bulky chunky VE, VF crap. I hope they don't go that way.

That's just me.

Field reliability tests on prototypes begin about 12 months before release,
FGII based mules will be out now completing prelim work on power train/HVAC.

Normally, evolutionary model approval happens approximately two years before delivery,
suggesting that 2014 car was signed off about six months ago and that the +2016 car(?)
will be ready for sign off around November 2014, shortly after launch of 2014 car.

I'm betting that a 2016 Euro 5 Falcon would be a running change on the 2014 car and
not unlike what Ford did with FG in 2010 to comply with Euro 4, meaning a low cost extension.

There will be attribute and systems mules out there now...but you won't be able to spot them.

Euro 5 would be a good opportunity for an FH2 you would think.

Using your line of thinking, it's not guaranteed a day before its release.

My point all along is that it is old news that we are getting a 2014 Falcon.
Just look at the Australian built Focus, and the V6 Falcon as 2 examples of programs that were due to go into production but got cancelled half way into the process. Not to mention the diesel Territory that got scrapped in around 2006 when it was due for release in 2008.

Any program can be cancelled at any step for a number of reasons.

Hence why this is very good news...Dearborn obviously feels there is a need for the Falcon...

well that's what I think anyway :-/

Don't get me wrong, of course it's good news. Just old news ;).

Ford have confirmed the Falcon up until 2016 a while ago.

Um....kind of tells me that we were getting a 2014 Falcon.

Jeez, just going around in circles, in the end does it really matter when funding was confirmed. Making a mountain out of mole hill.

Every car will go through stages in its design process. But I know they have the approval to build the first verification prototypes. So some will be coming down the line this year.

Yeah, have been doing that for 45 years, none of my manuals ever needed a new clutch n synchro's were never required.
I used to drive a side valve Ford V8 tanker with a crash box but I now find the ZF enables me to left foot brake more easily.
A RELIABLE DSG would be the best of both worlds though
