Hi I'm Guy from Wickham WA.
I've just scored a 2009 FG XR8 in primo condition with 30,000kms on the clock. Looking to help her breath better, sound better and look better under the bonnet. Has anyone seen a nice neat CAI like the one process west make for XR6T (the polished race air box but with the street air box slick looking black pipe ) as I can't see one listed for FG XR8 on their website? Also has anyone come accross the polished alluminium radiator expansion tanks with the welds ground off so the edges are smooth?
Thanks Guy

hi Ford forums....glad to have found your site. Have clocked up many hours already reading those threads......I have an au and a ba.. both fairmont Ghias..just bought the au as l like the high class interior with the wood trim.. nicer than the ba.....Have some rust in the lower boot lid....seems quite common but would like to know just where the water is getting in..any one have any suggestions ? The ba seems much easier on gas.. must be the tickford mods that make the difference in the the fuel use in the au...you would think that they would have improved the engines efficiantcy....

Welcome too Deno. I would go for Kinetic but personally I'm a bit biased towards blue Falcons

Default Sorry for the re-post I didn't see the sticky:repost

Hi Guys/Gals,
Just stumbled across this forum and thought i'd say "Hi"
I'm a fellow Ford fanatic from across the across the other side of the planet. Back in England I own a 1988 Ford Escort RS Turbo and have restored it from the shell up in most areas and rebuilt the engine and wiring. I'm currently in Melbourne backpacking in Australia and hopefully i'll get to see some decent V8 racing and maybe even check out some rallying in Tasmania. Yesterday I purchased a trusty old 1995 econovan and hopefully it will get me round Aus without too many dramas. Ive posted a thread about it running a little rich so if anyone else can help me out with that that would be very appreciated. Anyways Hi guys!
Andy

Hi Everyone,

I'm Gerry form WA. I'm in the market for a new car and have had my eye and heart set on a BF Fairmont Ghia. Never owned any Aussie made car Ford or Holden but definitley much prefer Fords. I have mates who love debating over which prevails and conquers (like we all have) but I have never had much input due to never owning either, my mum did have a VN Though. As I get older in to my thirties, I have to come to prefer sitting back and cruising in luxury and comfort then to be be loud and obtrusive on the road. I've been trolling Ford Forums for the last month on everything Fairmont Ghia and absolutely love the wealth of positive information on the forum. Would love to hear from any owners out there to help me out before purchasing. I'm a bit tied between the BA and BF Ghia's of course preferring the BF so budget will play its part.

Thanks guys, I found the drain hose above the bell housing, at the moment it is clear and running, hopefully it does not block up again.

Hi to all Ford enthusiasts. I own a nicely maintained 1997 EL Sapphire sedan, 4.0 litre automatic and am in dire need of some good advice.I was cruising along when the fuel supply suddenly stopped. I have checked the pump and fuel line and working fine. The fuel pump power relay is fine. Checked the EFI power relay and the points close when ignition is on but still no fuel to injectors. Motor runs if I naturally aspirate with fuel directly into throttle body so gotta be electrical I figure. I am stuck on road and all outa ideas. Anyone ? Cheers.

G'day all...son has bought himself an '08 (4spd) Territory - pick up this friday, and looks like this is the place to find out the ups n downs

Already aware of the ball joint(s), rear bushes and cluncky box before purchase, so no nasty surprises there, but figure I'll read about any other 'traps' we may come across ;)

Looking forward to reading of those who've boldly gone before

Hi everyone I'm from Melbourne,

After some feedback from Ford owners this is my first Ford. Been sharing my brothers VE seriesII commodore previously.

I just bought my first car from dealer used. 2002 BA FAIRMONT GHIA with around 228,000km on it, I payed $3700 drive away with rego until Jan 2016. The car has been regularly serviced at Ford dealer and the next scheduled service is at 231,000km.

Those who own BA Falcons with high mileage, from experience do you think I will run into to any mechanical problems. I would like to use the car until 300,000km without having to do any major repairs. Do you think I that's too high mileage? Did I get a fair deal or did I over paid? Let me know what your thoughts are.

Thank,
Suj

Bit more about the car: Its very nice outside and internally, its Acid Rush Yellow (Rare colour for Ghia), came with 17 inch Ford 5-spoke wheels near new tyres. Only thing that was missing was the rear bumper chrome trim which I found the genuine Ford part on ebay.
It really stands out, I will definitely post pics after fitting everything.

Smile Hey all!! ;)

Hey guy and gals, i'm a huge Ford fanatic and just bought myself a beautiful red 1998 Ford Falcon XR6 with only 158,000km on the clock, really tidy and well looked after. Performance wise, it's got a full sports exhaust and modified headers. I'm looking forward to becoming an active member on this forum. Will post pics of my car sometime later. Cheers, Matt (QIK XR6).

Hi All,

Just picked up a '98 XH XR8 last week in Perth.

The VIN numbers indicate an XR8 with a build date of FEB '98.

It has just clicked over 150,000kms, of which only 13,000kms completed since 2007.

The body is straight, engine runs and sounds strong with extractors into a 3" system.

The bad is it's currently riding on 19" FPV dark agent rims which ruin the ride. I can't see any spacers so i'm guessing those are fake rims with a pre AU offset. Also I don't have any gauges that work... No speedo, RPM, fuel etc.

I'm looking to ditch the 19"s and replace with EL GT rims or something similar.

It'c currently on the hoist having the front steering arms, castor rods and bushes replaced.

Plans include an upgrade to the air intake system and a tune.

Feedback and advice would be greatly appreciated as this is the first Ford i've had since my ED XR6 in 1997.

Hi

Im Dion, First time Ford Falcon owner after many a Holden. I have a 05 BA XR6 non turbo sedan. Awesome to drive. Looking to turbo intercool and tune the engine later on. Got this car as a swap on a Dirty old Toyota Surf I had advertised on Gumtree. This car is a awesome base for a turbo project. Loving it at the moment as it is nice and comfortable to cruise in, turbo is on the cards for sure. Glad to be here.

Cheers Dion

Hi all. I'm new to this forum & thought I'd say g'day. My name is Dave & I'm from Adelaide.
I've owned 2 Fords now. The 1st was a BA XR6 non turbo. Had it for about 8 years & sold it with 390,000 km on it & was still going strong. Now I have another BA XR6, but Turbo this time with injected vapour gas system. I hope it is as reliable as my 1st. It's all standard but I had a tune/remap done and it now has 240 rwkw on petrol & 237 rwkw on gas, up from 170. What a difference. It's great. I just wish it was manual rather than 4 speed auto, but it is still good. I've had it out at the Mallala Raceway here in SA for a track day and found out the hard way about these cars blowing brake hoses. A bit embarrassing running off the track with no brakes! It was great fun up til then. I'll be back out there again though, next time with braided brake hoses.
I'll be looking on here for some advice on brakes first up I think!
Anyway, see you all on the forum.
Dave

Hi Guys joined mainly for the technical info.

Had to buy a car in a hurry and Ive been a ford man all my life.

Just in the blood i guess.

Blood is really blue after all, until it leaves the body that is.

Bought an NL Fairlane from a guy going into a home which had only done 40k the last 10 years.

Drives like new, has a few issues which im working through but it s so much car would make a great sleeper.

I didn't realise how much i missed working on my own cars again
