G'Day Damo here.

Bought an 09 FG XR6 Turbo, Auto, Mystic Green with 93k kms in Dec 15.
Turbo died due oil starvation after driving from Brisbane to Canberra.
Has complete log book servicing at Ford workshop in Brisbane but I bought private, so bit disappointing.

Have replaced turbo and oil line. So far so good.

Is it normal for the ZF to lurch / hard downshift 2nd to first when coming to a stop?

Cheers

I have a ZF Fairlane and I am having trouble fitting the Rare Spares new door seals. does anyone know if there is a trick to fit them as the door will not close. There is so much pressure on the door to close.
Does anyone know anybody in Brisbane that fits them. 73zf

Hey all,

New member post..

My name is Luke, just bought a 2012 FG mk2 Xr6t Ute start start the new year.
Great car so far, has only 24k on it so Im happy as larry.

First thing i did was window tint, next will be an inline filter for the turbo oil feed, then slowely work through my never ending list...

1st question, i cant seem to find any threads on it, has anyone modded the front grill on the mk2's? seems like the new plastic grill covers a good half the intercooler flow..?
Cheers

Hi Folks I'm Matt good to be a part of Ford Forums, I am in need of some help in disabling the codes for two AWA radios one is out of a 89 LTD the other a 90 Fairmont (Joystick model) I haven't had much luck with my local Ford dealer who don't seem to have the codes on file anymore. I have heard that you can un-solder a number of points on the circuit board to disable the code but I don't know which points to un-solder can anyone help or post some pics on how to do it be great to keep both cars as original as possible cheers Matt.

Hi guys and gals

I've only been lurking a short time lurker and been reading some of the project car builds. Reading Dave's XP coupe rebuild (May 2015 PCOM) at the moment, very motivating

I thought I'd best introduce myself as I'll probably be asking a few questions soon.

Parents have a ZG Fairlane, been in the family since about 1978. It's all original except was resprayed about 10 years ago in a non factory colour, was originally Mulberry with a white vinyl roof and white vinyl interior. Doesn't get driven much lately, but pretty good condition overall, just a bit of rust behind the rear wheels, cracked dash and a few other minor things.

Dave's XP paint job has got me thinking that I could have a go at the fairlane, as a commercial paint job couldn't be justified. Probably do a TAFE course first and take it slowly and prep it properly etc.

Anyways, I probably post up some details on the fairlane soon.

Cheers, Andrew

Head over to the AU-BA section. Someone there may have the answer.

Hi all,
Les from Perth, currently have 3 fords, 65 Mustang, 2008 FG Falcon and Everest. FG has to go and probably the Mustang eventually to help fund a caravan.. Currently getting the brakes up to scratch on the Mustang, not power assisted and not as good as when I got it.. Master brake cylinder and disc brake proportioning valve in bits at the moment.. Lots of CRC and patience.
Looking forward to articles on the Everest and any advice I can glean for the Mustang.
p.s. a mate is picking up a new Mustang in August, bit jealous hahaha

Default Hi! New to the forum!!

Hi All

Looking forward to all the great advice this forum gives and getting to know fellow members with a passion for FPV as I do. I currently have 2 FPVs which I treat like my babies lol. I have a two FPVs at the moment, a 2006 Bf F6 typhoon which is a car my brother and i have been building for years currently making 440rwkw, and a 2010 FG GT manual which is one of my favourite every car for cruising purposes. I love my V8s. I also used to own an old holden vs ss before i seen the light haha

Thanks for having me!

Nice cars, post some pics
Can't believe we're not building these anymore, shame on Aust public, for not supporting your fellow Aussies and our industry.
In a few years you will see the imported stuff is no better bang for buck than what we made here.
Parts will take months to get and servicing/ repairs cost a fortune and 10s of thousands of your Aussie brothers and sisters will be unemployed, good work.

Hi All

Sort of come over from the dark side i suppose .
Changing over from a VE Series 2 Thunder Ute to a MK2 XLS dual cab Ranger .
At that price point , blind loyalty to a brand is stupid .
Looking forward to learning and where usefull , posting on the site .

Hello I'm Celeste from Canberra, I just bought a 2011 GS and loving v8 life. I'm planning on a crazy forester build haha so probably won't be doing much to the GS as it is the daily but it is definitely not staying stock... and we all know what happens after the mod bug bites!

Welcome Celeste - ex Canberra boy (old man) here - Ainslie. So, how does someone who buys a V8 ute decide to build a SUBURU Forester.

Haha well I originally had a forester as my daily but it was getting to that point of too many mods for a daily and going to cost more to replace the gearbox and get a forged motor than to do this build I have in mind, so I sold it to further my build plans.
Hubby is a ford man and so we negotiated on my next daily.. I was going to get a new forester but we got the GS - mostly because it can tow a car an I love v8's (guess what's going in the forester haha)

I've always loved fg's though so it's going to be hard not to spend too much on it :')

Red face Re: Welcome to New Members - Post here to say gday!

Hi all. Stats first. I have a 1993 SE Capri Clubsprint, and a 1994 SE Capri XR2 Turbo. I'm sure there are some who have stopped reading now.

I find it fascinating the rivalry between so-called "real" and "fake" Capris. I mean, which is which? My only issue I guess is with collectability, and the number of people who buy limited edition or rare vehicles, only to gut them as a donor car and/or rebuild to their taste. As the owner of the car they are perfectly entitled to do this. I have nothing against this either, except to ask why don't they start with the bog standard model. Would anyone do this to any Falcon GT? Of course they did, and now wished they hadn't.

SOS - Save Our Stock - so others can enjoy them tomorrow as manufactured.

As for my Capris, well, only 116 Australian SE Turbos were made, and 200 Clubsprints, but here's the problem I'm sure many have faced. As my Clubsprint has gone through its ownership history, several have decided to swap out or just remove many of the items that make it a Clubsprint. So while I can certainly freshen up the car, unless I'm super quick on eBay or similar, to me the car will still be somewhat "unfinished".

And all of this is usually because the sum of the parts is worth more than the sum of the whole. Why sell the car and the wheels to the same person when you can make more money splitting and selling to two different people?

Hi all, love the site, was a member a while ago and have returned after realised the error of my ways. ( Don't hold it against me please).

Any way, my daily driver is a BFII Force 8 but my pride and joy is an old 71 mustang in the garage.

I'm tinkering with fords all the time so hope I can also help with some of my experiences as well.
cheers.

G'day Everyone,

My name is Greg and I am a newbie to forums but not to owning a Ford.

My first car was a 1958 Prefect and my first new car was a 1982 XD Falcon which I owned for 21 years.

This week I am taking delivery of a Ranger XL PX Mk2. I have found very useful info on the forum site as a guest and look forward to learning and sharing more about the Ranger.
