Lately hydraulic shops...... all fishing for extra income.
They don't want to sell you just the hose and insist everything uses crimped fittings. THEY DON"T.

Got to ride in a tow truck today. That was fun..... not.
Starter motor packed it in. It was fine yesterday but today all the spin, no engagement. Nrma guys looked at it for about half an hour then orginised a tow to a mechanics. Mechanic said to me if it is just a starter motor it will be done by tomorrow arvo. Then i got the phone call a bit later, flex plate is shagged too, so gearbox out. So its been a pretty eventful day. |

They should have a red hot look. At your km none of that is expected.

Well, the mechanic likes working on falcons, the joke was its only just been run in at 203k. Its something along the lines of the ring gear has separated from the flex plate, which the mechanic says isnt common, but isnt entirely uncommon as he has seen it on multiple occasions. So im less unhappy that i got it towed to a mechanics then towed home and done the driveway starter motor swap (top bolt is a pain) only to then work out its something worse.

Funny the starter on my truck gave up the other day, was getting slower and slower at starting over winter. I thought ah, 8 year old battery using cold start all winter long but nup starter carked it, at least it was in the drive. this is where the geeze I hate that begins.... bummer I have three spares all 11 tooth, they come in 2 pinion sizes 11 and 14 teeth. What do you think the one in the truck is ? Simple 3 bolt job turns into swapping the complete starter heads over.

Don’t know if it’s the economic slowdown biting, but some people have been really hard work the last week or so. Just irrational, rude, not listening, sometimes causing trouble.

It's school holidays at the moment, so I get the double whammy. Kids running and screaming all over the place, while I have to deal with the grumpy parent/grandparent. We also get all the neurotic schoolteachers coming through the door as well. Sorry to all the teachers out there, but I can pick them from a mile away, often asking ridiculous questions to seemingly simple things. Quite often I have to explain how to dig a bloody hole.

I resent that implication!I used to be able to dig a hole. In fact I've dug many of them, it's the getting out of them that's the problem. |

I was in a hurry to mow the lawn yesterday morning, before I had to go to my Aunties funeral, so my mind was somewhere else.
The mower wasn't revving properly, the problem was a bent pivoting bracket on top of the carby, that the governor spring attaches to. I took off my glasses to have a close up look at the carby, and bent the bracket back to where it was, more or less. I started the mower for a test run.....and ran over my bloody glasses, that were still on the ground where I left them.

Went and got new tyres today. No issues there they did it on the spot. So the person on the front desk says feel free to sit in their waiting area. Again, nothing wrong with that. The behaviour of the other customers waiting on tyres very much reminded me of that of a callout i attended years ago at a place that did alcho rehab. That callout was because the kitchen circuit had tripped and the staff member asked me to please be quick as without coffee facilities the people go a bit nuts.
Same vibe, people pacing back and forth, in this case constantly peering through the window into the workshop thinking that would make things happen faster etc. So decided just to go for a walk, let the front desk person know and they wrote down my number to text me when the car was done if i wasnt back. I was in and out in about an hour so the tyre place wasn't fart arsing about. But man alive the stress levels in that waiting area were next level. |

This one really ****ed me off
Pulled up at the local Chain parts store today, noticed in a parking bay not too far away there was a plastic basket kinda thing.... then noticed the bloody great oil stain where some gronk had done an oil change, left the oil in the (clearly not sealed) basket, and had gone on their merry way, they even left the oil bottle, old filter & several rags.... WTF.....

All the remnants of Covid still floating around. Stickers regarding where to stand, QR codes still stuck on entrances, 'no mask no entry' signs.
Sick of seeing them. Should be a rule that it ALL needs to be removed by X date.

Another ex Transport Minister being appointed as a Premier.
We all know how they run (down) public and private transport.

Especially the bureaucrats and politicians who happily fostered hysteria on top of it, or took the opportunity to load up their pockets.

And both with their ONLY credentials being worthless Bachelor of Arts degrees (like half the checkout chicks or baristas in Melbourne!) and the prerequisite ability to spew meaningless dribble at press conferences, whilst dressed in their now mandatory "uniform" of a Hi-Viz vest and hardhat adorned with their name! So over it!!

I never knew Arts Degrees were still held with the same disdain they were in the 60s - a totally useless piece of paper.

Didn’t active enrolment for a BA mean you weren’t compelled to enter conscripted military service?

Another stupid recently applied public holiday in country Victoria today.
Austpost ? closed, engineering places? closed, cafe's ? most closed anyone else is given carte blanche to charge a 20% surcharge. Why, because of a football parade in a place most from the rest of the state doesn't want to go to, Melbourne.

Yes, inside and outside universities. In one of the toilets in the uni I attended, someone had drawn an arrow pointing to the toilet paper and written “Bachelor of Arts degrees - please take one”.
