Captain retard here rear ended the Mazda (second not at fault incident in the past two months).

Their response? "YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO STOP AT AN ORANGE LIGHT!"

Umm... yeah you are, stop if safe to do so... which it was.

He saw my partner's P plates and said "seeya mate" and drove off.

Going to call the local police station tomorrow and report the scumbag.

safe to do so can also apply to what vehicle is following behind you.. consideration of their reaction time and stopping distance as well....

this is true for the most part, but if you can stop with out jumping on the brakes drasticly then the car behind should have been able to stop also. b doubles can stop fairly well, but still if in the same position it could have ended very differently.

Our car stopped without crossing the stop line and the stop wasn't particularly aggressive. No fault on our end.

Moron behind us just wanted to run the amber and thought we would too.

It's up to the driver FOLLOWING to allow appropriate braking room, these are the rules.

If I drop the anchors coming up to an intersection and you hit me, according the law it's your fault.

But anyway, this wasn't the case.

Something similar happened to me in the falcon, pulled gently up to a stop sign, lady behind me rammed in to my tow ball because she "thought I was going to run it"

Your opinion is flawed.

If you have time to stop safely, so does the person behind you.
Also if you rear end someone, then legally you are at fault and any insurance company will say the same.

Its not her fault that she actually did the right thing.
I hope the police throw the book at them.

As for a B-Double, any respectable driver will have allowed room for stopping as opposed to blasting through a light, B-Double or not.

your cool.. you guys have some sort of $300 fine + 3 points for running through yellows up there.. incentive enough to pull up for them..

we still run through them like demons down here.. always check your mirror if youre going to pull up though.. could be crazy yellow runner close behind..

This indicates to the vehicle behind that you intend to stop.

The bottom line remains A: Stop for a amber light. B: Stop after accident.

This is the sole reason our governments are putting "safety camera's"
Too many people just thinking they can blast through a changing light.

Like I said above champ, it wasn't a hard stop.

It's people like you that make riding a motorcycle so dangerous. God forbid I stop at a light and my blood messes up your car. What an inconvenience for you.

You are meant to stop on amber lights...

I've been fined for running a amber light, was later dropped to a caution as I argued that the light changed to amber whilst I was crossing the intersection. The officer that fined me was a couple of cars behind myself so in no position to accurately gauge where I was relative to the intersection. Should of not been fined at all but was happy to get the caution in the end, my word against theirs.
