used to
had about 30 treasure hunts from 2001 onwards
also had every car from the 2003 serious (minus a few variants)

sold most of them

although i have about 20 packs of the 5pack cars in a box from 2003 to 2004 sitting in the spare room doing nothing
a mates son has shiteloads
would easily have 50 treasure hunts
doesnt have any from the original 95 series tho

Haha don't believe it! I've been looking out for XB's for ages, and came across two of the FGs on short cards last night at the supermarket. I was so excited, especially seeing as I didn't even know they existed until I found them.

Kmart at hornsby westfield has heaps of hotwheels in stock. Lots of green lantern cars I'm guessing from the movie, a few Batman batmobiles and 6 delorean time machines.

Need the front view for the best angle on these particular model Hotwheels.

I did have well over 1000 Hotwheels, Matchbox and other brands cars until kids came along. I shared them out to the kids a few years ago and they aren't collectable anymore. I did keep a few of my favourites (mostly Fords).

(Just an opinion no flaming plz) Growing up as a kid in the early 90s I collected both match box cars and hotwheels. They were my fav toys above all, anyways I collected more matchbox cars than hotwheels because thier quality was better however buying a couple of both here and there, matchbox has really dropped the ball. Hotwheels are a much better product now. Anyone else find the same?

Both matchbox and hotwheels are owned by Mattel,They tend to concentrate their budget more to HW and make MB do with less, look at the shop displays how many pegs each brand has got.A lot of the retail stores have got a lot of older MB laying around due to the poor distribution of MBs, this is a world wide problem,MB have a great range of cars and trucks but you cannot find them, they also have more real cars unlike HW with their fantasy cars which have no emotion for the real car person.Build quality would be similar but the hunt for the almighty $ has meant that some parts are now made of plastic instead of metal, this goes for both brands.Subject matter I think MB are better. IMO.

V8.6I. Thanks for the facts mate, didnt know they were owned by the same company. I agree with ur point of MBs, thats why I liked them more when I was little becuase they were real cars and not far out fantasy cars. My favs were a red nascar chev lumina with fat race tyres (mb), a 80s style ford cop car (mb), a four door nissan patrol badged as a ford (mb) better stop there as the list goes on lol

I too had a bucketload more matchbox cars as a child over hot wheels. Even had a matchbox road set which is still kicking around somewhere! Unfortunately they just seemed to drop the ball and the glitzy colorful hot wheels brand took precedence.

i always though most of the Matchbox cars were the standard looking production car style,
and Hotwheels were the modified ones, eg better metallic paint on some, some had bigger wheels on the back, chrome blown engines on some etc etc.
i have quite a few Hotwheels cars, most have stripes or flames or are done up like the safari park cars, or race cars, buisiness advertising, pepsi, hungry jacks, champion etc
there are a few standard looking ones though.

my 4yo son has been getting into them for as while too,
he has a couple of hotwheels loop the loop tracks, stunt tracks.
if he gets a new car, the first thing he does is turn it over the check for the hotwheels logo, lol

My Matchbox brand cars were all pre-1997 when it was still owned by Lesney. Back then they seemed to be more true to scale and accurately modelled where as the Hotwheels were more fantasy cars. The Hotwheels always did roll better though when you put them on Hotwheels track.

Just to clarify, the purple XB isnt a tresure hunt. But there is a 'superized' verison of it. These 'superized' variants have taken over from super tresure hunts in 2012.

look at the '' 'superized' verison of it '',, it has TH in small tampo on it,rubber tyres .so its a treasure hunt .(secret t/hunt)no green stripe on card.
the TH card has slight car detail diference on the card.(as per TH tampos)
the others (are imo basic t/hunts .same tampo, same card number, has co molded wheels) same as previous years =basic /super .
& looks like they have thrown a few basics (as i call em) in multi packs .
there both from the muscle mania serries ..

the reason behind this secret TH ''imo'' is to stop complaints on store staff scalping cases of the goodies .?
