Emigrated to oz last july.
Bought a 2001 AU wagon from a dealer for $4000 with rego and roadworthy. Only just worn in with 240,000 kms on the clock. Saw me comming a mile off!! At least shes clean. Anyway, you live and learn. Have since upgraded wheels and tyres, fitted new radiator, air con compressor, steering bushes, lpg tune and service, blacked out windows, full car service, new front and back brake pads, auto transmission service with new gaskets, roof wrack, exhaust...... I love my AU, but shes definitely taken a bit to get right. Wife thinks im nuts, but she does not understand. Just have a slight fuel issue on acceleration off the line. Might try replacing the fuel pump.... cheers ste |

BA XT V8 MANUAL.
Gday all, i have been a member for a while just reading everyones comment on different articles, so now it's my turn to ask a question, i have a 2004 BA XT V8 Manual that i bought brand new from the Ford Dealer, it has 136,000km on the clock, is this a car worth keeping or worth selling, as i'm aware by what i can find here ford cannot say how many of these were made. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers. |

Hi All,
Have been a member for a few years but have never posted, thought I should take note from admin. AFF has been a massive support during my first ford (EL Falcon wagon) ownership and is a wealth of information for the backyarder or mechanic. I have always been a Holden man, no not late model, my street machine was an LC Torana that was 2 months older than me. Anyway fords are **** blah blah blah, that's what I thought of these late model vehicles up until I owned this car. Mind you it was a family car with 225000klms RWC 6months rego, exc cond bargained hard and purchased for $1650. And an Auto dipstick. I use it everyday in my trade contracting business. This is on very ordinary rural roads, black and dirt loaded to the hilt, it cops a floggin. Fuel pump, radiator, tailgate struts, tires etc are all that has really failed. Suspension is absolutely f&@$.d now. Advice on heavy duty raised springs, leafs shocks and struts ordered online would be most appreciated. In regards to level of Auto trans for those fortunate enough to have a dipstick I need to fill it far over the full level, up to the word "IN". I got slippage any lower, then topped up a bit from there. I have not read this advise anywhere, interestingly enough. I am unaware which gearbox it is from. Mine is of course the M93LE. Hi Stevo Pom.
Welcome to Oz !!! Your ride must be duel fuel if you have a fuel pump & had it LPG tuned. It is difficult to tune an engine for both. Almost impossible. If you want better acceleration run on petrol & get it tuned for petrol. If you want to save $ on fuel get it tuned for gas but you will have to put up with the sluggish takeoff I think. Hi folks,
I was getting a little nostalgic the other day so Googled my old rego number for my XA GT. It had been sold for the usual reasons back in the 80's - kids mortgage with ever increasing interest rates etc. Anyway, Google led me to this forum where another later owner was also searching. There's nothing with 4 wheels in the garage that excites me now that I'm retired so I keep thinking about my options. Maybe the inspiration will come from this forum. Regards Chip |

Hello,
Not a Ford Lover but a Ford Owner that tries to conduct maintenance where possible. The wifes car is a 2013 Territory Diesel AWD, and its a good wagon for ferrying the kids and others around. Makes a pretty reasonable tow vehicle too. Will be scouring the forum for any common issues/fixes that can be conducted without being violated by a dealership. Hello to all. |

G'day all,
Thought I'd introduce myself. New to forum, not new to Ford. Have had a few over the years. Capri's, Mustangs, Focus RS Mk2, Focus XR5, Lincoln Continentals (MkVII, Givenchy and MkIV) and a Granada a long time ago. Current project on the go is my father in-law's 1964 XM Sprint Coupe. Apparently it was one of the ones made in the late 1960s with factory V8 / C4 set-ups, this one having a Feb 1967 289 and a matching Apr 1967 C4 with column shift set up. He bought it years ago and drove it for a while but no air-con in Darwin is a bit much so it's been sitting waiting for some love for the last few years. We've currently decided to go for a full rebuild and upgrade, had the auto rebuilt by Matthew at TransMat and pulled the motor down for a full checkup. The engine has undergone a full rebuild recently with new pistons, rings, cam and lifters etc so she's good to go. We're converting it to 4bbl with an Edelbrock Performer intake, electronic distributor, ceramic coated extractors, new water HPerf pump, hi-torque starter and new accessories, plus a Vintage Air AC kit. We've sourced a full 9" rear with 3.55 gears and disc brakes on 5 stud hubs and are converting the fronts to disc and 5 studs as well. The interior was in good shape but I never trust wiring so we're installing a full wiring kit as well prior to reassembly. The father in-law has spent years now collecting period correct sprint pieces for the car so they'll all be fitted once re-painted. I'll post some pics up of the project as it comes along and be sure to hit you all up for info when we get stuck on bits. Regards, John |

G'day all.
I'm a Pom living in NZ, (have done for 28 years). Both my parents worked at Ford in Dagenham, & My Dear Great Unc' in Perth worked at the foundry in Dagenham, London. I Love Aus' built Fords, & had a couple when I was living in Vic 3777. Now Back in NZ Current project is an XH, with AU Tickford/5 speed running gear. I'm on the scrounge for info from like minded people that have embarked on similar projects. Cheers. |

Hi to everyone, Came across this site looking for info about the dreaded air/mixer shaft replacement. Fun job alright and you'd think the new shaft was made of gold but never mind, done now. I'm a mechanic and did my apprenticeship back in the 70's when the XA Falcons, HQ Holdens and VH Valiants were King Of The Road unless you wanted a Pommy car like a Triumph or God help us all anything made by BMC. I'm pretty sad the Aussie icon cars are now a thing of the past but we've still got our trusty BA Falcon XR8 Boss 260 and coming into New Zealand winter it's good to have the heater working again. The XR8 has a sport exhaust and modified ECU so is poking out a bit more than 260kw. It sounds awesome.........Like a V8 should. Hopefully I can be of some assistance to members on here and look forward to being on here.........Oh, and many thanks for the info on changing out that shaft, Would have been buggered without it.

Just to say hi and thanks for admitting me to the forum. Got xr6 vct with body kit not sure wich model it's off, it's got the mesh at the back bottom use to be holden all my life till brought this and couldn't b happier with prefomence looks sound LOVE THE S3 XR6VCT got to put in kn filter little mods here and there just bit hard when you got the battery dead on you $200 racv tipicle overall happy with it goes hard just bit worried from 1st to 2nd in a automatic in adaptive shift mode and the thump of it changing like realy feel the quik change at 2300 revs. Don't know if this is suppose to happen or iv got a problem. I thought all good when under 2000revs smooth shift. Has anyone had any problems like this and if so can you please tell me the outcome as friends when happens trips em out know git me thinking. Hey I am a newby to FF, so thanks for the acceptance. I have been a blue blood Ford lover since I was 10 years old and that fellow Fordies was 1964. My Dad walked in the back door and told us he had a surprise to show us'...we raced outside and there in a metallic blue with white roof was a 1964 Super Pursuit XM Falcon Sedan..OMG...I can still recall the absolute feeling of disbelief as it washed over me...I sat in the drivers seat and I am just amazed now as I was then at the White dash knobs and that Green illuminated dash lights...I remember holding that beautiful big white steering wheel oh and that new car smell, nothing like today's cars. Strangely enough my school friend and neighbour had me visit him the night before to show off his Dads new car, an EH Holden Station wagon..I remember getting him to come see my Dads new Falcon..and at his first sight the Ford Holden battle started..
Anyway years have rolled on, Falcons, Fairlanes, Fiesta, Cortina's, Capris Escorts have been part of our Ford stable, Got my first GT in 1981, an XA GT Sedan and as time rolled on had had a further 4 GT's either XA or XB's. My favourite was my XA GT Coupe that I had for 22 years. I have owned the following model Falcons: XY, XA, XB, XC, XD, EA, EB, ED, EL, EF, AU, BA, BF, various models including 500, Fairmonts, S, GLi's, GS, GT, XR4, XR6, XR6 Turbo, XR8's and the only Ford I drove for a few years not available in Australia (at the time) was a Ford Everest purchased brand new in Vietnam early 2014, (I lived in Vietnam for 4 years and saw some seriously amazing Fords left behind by the Americans after the end of the Vietnam War). My model Everest was never released in Aussie. It basically shared much the same format as the 2012-2014 Aussie Ford Ranger, but L/H drive but had a 2.5 Litre Turbo Diesel EcoTec engine. Check out the pics of my Ford Everest LH Drive. So what do I drive now since moving back to Aussie..a BA Cab Chassis column auto, 3 seater with 320,000 k that works its butt off, I have done 73,000k in the last 10 months. So thats my Ford story that spans 53 years, wouldn't change a thing...love my Fords even when the odd one let me down. Hope you enjoy reading my story, looking forward to any questions, cheers Baz. |

Hey thanks for the reply Wayne, much appreciated. Love to know what your Ford story is...You know I would love to put out a book out on the Aussie Falcon/Fairlane and the main part of the book would be the experiences of those that drove them, loved them and loathed them. Imagine the stories from the police that drove them in the pursuit of crime...love to hear about that. Imagine the stories of young bucks being chased by the coppers, reckon such a book would be an awesome read and lock in a vital part of Australia's history.

Hey guys just a thought, I sold my BA XR8 Mk2 6 speed manual sedan back in late 2011 as I was moving to Vietnam. I put a BF front bar n it and had (at the time) a rather unique paint scheme. It was not only my private vehicle but also my work vehicle. I wanted to increase power and at the same time fuel economy, I achieved both by lots of research and speaking to Rob Herrod. After my add on's including air induction, headers with full 3" dual system, throttle body, my car comfortably put out 250 RWKW and returned 11.8L/100k around Melb and dropped to 10.0-10.2L/100k.
I like many before would love to reconnect with my car. It was sold to a young guy in Horsham however he kept it a year and the car ended up in Nhill, from there I have no further news. Here are some pics of my fav Ford If anyone knows of its whereabouts love to hear back. Cheers Baz |

I have been lurking on these forums for a while now. Want to do some upgrades on my AU Series 1, starting with a brake upgrade (along with other small things). Then move onto other bigger jobs.
I have been out of work due to a back injury (old injuries getting worse etc.), and now I am unable to do a great deal, but with that aside, when I get some free time (and feeling OK), I love to work on my car. In other words, getting out of the house and away from the Mrs for a while I enjoy reading forums, as there are many helpful people about, I own and run a forum, but it has nothing to do with my car (or car's in general). Been thinking that a few spent dollars on my car would be worth some time, as I now will have some time to do the work that needs to be done, I thought that this is an excellent place for advice in general. So anyway I thought that I would introduce myself to everyone G'day Fella's & Gal's. |

Hi to all guys and gals; I am now retired Been a jag man the last 22years running my own business as a jaguar spares and repairs in wellington NZ.my wife and I live in the commercial building which we have a nice 2 bedroom self contained flat.This enables me to have a large mancave complete with hoist and 8 car garage.It is now full of falcons I needed a ute so purchased a nice 1994 XG XR6 in polonisian green'then I needed some thing later so found a low mileage 2005 BF XR6 turbo black with black leather awesome car.I then wanted a project and found a 1966 XR s/w that is currently stripped complety and on a rotisserie doing all the body work I have restored several Jaguars over the years so the xr falcon shouldn't be to difficult; I was thinking of V8 engine for it so purchased a 2001 AU111 with the 220 K/W signed engine that I was going to retro all running gear from that to the 66 XR but cant bring myself to wreck it. It goes really well so will find some thing else later. I really enjoy the Forum and all my Falcons. Cheers Ray.

Can confirm. Co-worker who is heavy smoker has been driving this for ages, don't know if they do maintenance but one of their brake lights has been busted for years. Doesn't seem to die.

Hi Chris is the name retirement is the game, but I didn't want to retire my 2001 Falcon wagon when 'orrible noises issued from the back end followed by no drive....right hand half shaft bearing collapsed and bell mouthed the end of the axle housing....so...sourced a whole back axle at the local wreckers and shoved it in...the only problem I had was adjusting the parking brake through the peephole in the rotor...I read all the posts and they were helpful and I've put together a pictorial to help others who didn't know what was what...I hope to post it soon as they say "watch this space"

Hi all, toddy from brissy here. Been searching the site for years and finally joined up. Back in a ford, after many years in the ricers. Bought an fg G6E turbo. THE BARRA!!! Lovin it, besst motor ever!!!! Just put on a few mods last week and took it to the tuna FUN!!! Have owned it for 12 months niw, after buying it from an old fella who had his licence taken away due to poor vision. So she had a few cobwebs at the start to blow out. Anyways thats abit bout me n my ride, look forward to havin a yarn wit yous all about the cars. Cheers
