Isn't that getting it a bit closer to F6 power and therefore would require more bits and pieces?

tuning an XRT from 270fwkw to 290fwkw without any mechanical changes is childsplay, wouldn't require anything at all to be honest and still be reliable.

In my experience reliable is not always equal to Ford reliable.

In the after market world it would seem easy. Not sure about the manufacturers warranty world.

I think prof point was more along the lines of how the Miami works...whether its 315, 335 or 351 its all in the tune.

I6T is much the same but hasnt really been given a tickle from FG release. Even 10kws would be enough to be nice. But yes there requirements are much stricter than that of any aftermarket shop.

Only problem is a tune costs mega bucks! If they were going to up the kw with XR6T it would have been more cost effective to use the F6 motor.

well those who know have said the last F6 Turbos themselves were ordered a few weeks back, and no more will be ordered. But at the same time does this mean there may be a stockpile of complete F6 motors too? Similar to the Miami stockpile? I know it's all just conjecture until we finally get some official facts which would be nice, but is XR6T guaranteed at staying 270 or will F6 motors be used?

Yes its silly, I would have thought you would look ahead, in Miami's case tune it for 351 from the start and then any tune backwards is already complied and paid for. That would be to simple though.

Anyway, XR6T deserves a send off as the F6 went with a whimper.

Prof I recall someone saying that the F6 motor components where not being bought as of a few months ago now. They would stockpile a few warranty ones and that would be it I think. Bit of a bummer...using the F6 engine would have been nice.

Problem is competitive facts. They either focus on one or the other, they are limited with the amount of cars they can build (we know that). The XR8 is going to be the BEST Ford Falcon we have ever seen, and thats NO bullshit.

Saw the new falcon with the bra's covering the car on Calder Freeway heading towards the city. Would be cool to think they were gathering all the cars for the lead up to the reveal (lets all pray) on Friday

I wonder if we'll see any of the new Falcons as taxis. My understanding is that taxi fleets generally turn over their cars every 8 years, so we could still have Falcon taxis until 2024.
VY was laughable at release with triangles replacing the VT/VX semicircles and ovals. Looked like a haircut gone wrong, and it was nicknamed magnadore. But as years passed by, the VY really turned out to be one of the better looking commodores, especially in SS form. Universally there was praise for the "all-new falcon" and 12 years later, a clean, unmolested BA in any spec still catches my attention. Really miss those days, the days when Ford got things right... Let's hope the last Falcon will be a memorable one and one we can remember forever.

Even seen it dubbed the "AU commodore"...

But your are right, the VY/Z have aged way better then the VT/VX...just as the AU it's self has aged nicely.

Says a lot about challenging design standing the test of time...

So...for all the talk about the seemingly non-existent Ford marketing department...

We actually have a quite successful marketing program and we are all part of it...even those official teasers and vids have migrated from social media to news network pages...

No I think the vid release is perfect, but as mentioned previously they killed the whole fricken thing ehen thy mentioned that more product was on the way, falcon is done etc.

Note to Ford, while we are excited about other models how dare you trump anything ls other than the falcon in a campaign for the falcon...I found it to be quite disrespectful.

I know exactly what they doing, I just think its ridiculous they use this occasion to do it.

While marketing the last Falcon there should be no reason to utter any other model...heaps of time for that. Poor form.

2015 Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo to feature FPV F6 310kW engine?
JULY 23, 2014 AT 1:52 PMJOSH BENNIS
With the new Ford Falcon XR8 all-but-confirmed to feature the FPV GT 335kW supercharged V8, the new XR6 Turbo and G6E Turbo could receive the 310kW 4.0-litre six-cylinder found in the F6.

FPV F6 310

With FPV closed for business post GT-F, we’re hearing noise that the 310kW engine used in the FPV F6 could be on the cards as a replacement for Ford’s current 270kW engine.

The last time the XR6 Turbo received a power hike was way back in 2008, going from 245kW to 270kW with the arrival of the FG model.

By using the F6 engine Ford Australia would undoubtedly heighten interest in the turbocharged model, which has become a bit of a performance car hero since it was introduced back in 2002 – bringing it closer to its XR8 brother’s anticipated 335kW output.

The FPV F6 is one of the fastest Australian-made sedans ever made, with many motoring stables throughout the country reporting 0-100km/h in under 5.0 seconds. It also has huge potential in the aftermarket world.

Likely to look visually more upmarket than the FG model it’s set to replace, the 2015 Ford Falcon will feature an all-new front and rear design that falls into place with Ford’s latest global design cues.

The new Falcon is set to launch in November, with on-sale dates and specifications yet to be formally announced.
Not sure if legit or BS

I think the rods have been mentioned by Boss before as just one different item on the 310kw.

The 310 motor had a bigger turbo (ala BA/F), stronger lower comp pistons, oil cooler, bigger intercooler and injectors. It's not just an ECU tweak.

F6 motor is finished, was all wrapped up a good 2 months ago.
